The Club have agreed to extend Stuart Bannigan’s loan deal with Second Division Ayr United until the end of the current season.
Ian McCall explained his thinking behind that decision to ptfc.co.uk
“We believe that Stuart would be ready to step into our first team upon his scheduled return to Firhill but his time down at Somerset Park is proving to be so beneficial to his development that, following discussions with Ian Maxwell and Ian Cameron, we have decided to allow him to remain with Ayr until the end of the season.”
“Ayr are delighted with the progress that Stuart has been making with him and being part of a club that is enjoying a really positive spell at the moment is a marvellous experience for him. He has a chance of ending the season with a Second Division Championship medal and if Ayr were to get past St Mirren in the next round of the cup, which they have a real chance of doing, they would reach the last eight and I wouldn’t want to deny a youngster the opportunity of playing at that stage of the competition.”
