We are delighted to report that two of our promising crop of young players, midfielder Stuart Bannigan and goalkeeper Ryan Scully, have signed new contracts that will keep them at Firhill until the end of the 2012-2013 season and hopefully beyond that.
Manager Ian McCall explained his thinking behind the contract extensions when he spoke to ptfc.co.uk
“The truth of the matter is that both players are already attracting interest from other clubs and we felt that it was the right thing to do to get them tied up on longer contracts. I’m delighted that they will be at Firhill for the foreseeable future.”
“Stuart Bannigan has already featured in the first team and we feel that he has a big chance to become not just a regular first team player for Partick Thistle in seasons to come but go on further in the game as well. Ryan Scully we think can be involved in the first team this season before going on and really making the step up next season.”
“The two players have earned their new contracts and it shows the rewards there are for listening and working hard, a point that I’ve made to the other young players who we have high hopes for. This is an important step for Stuart and Ryan but it is just a step. If anything they are going to have to work even harder to make the next step. There are one or two things that Ryan still needs to work and Stuart needs to work on his strength but both players have a big future at the Club.”
