Partick Thistle 4-2 Ayr United
Thistle improve ten-fold after the break to score four and concede one cracking strike in the second half to lift the mood around Firhill. Doolan and Cairney both bag braces as the Jags fans see their first home goals in 2012.
90+1 mins: Bannigan replaces Erskine.
90 mins: GOAL THISTLE. Just as Doolan's officially announced man of the match to the crowd, the ball is sent over the last line of the defence to the striker. He took it to the left before crossing across goal for an empty Paul Cairney tap in.
88 mins: GOAL AYR UNITED. No one charges McGowan down and from 30ish yards he smashes one perfectly into the bottom corner beyond Fox's reach. Great strike.
87 mins: Good forward running by Naismith before he's dragged back and Thistle are awarded a free-kick. This second half has seen a much improved Thistle. Doolan man of the match.
85 mins: Excellent chance to make it 4-1 there. Thistle break, with Cairney bursting forward with only the goalkeeper ahead of him. He's some distance away from goal though and a defender catches up with him fizzling out the attack; chance wasted.
82 mins: Moffat replaced by McKernon.
81 mins: Paton is fouled by Malone, who's booked for giving away a PENALTY TO THISTLE. Cairney puts the ball on the spot, although Doolan fancies it for his hat-trick, the midfielder doesn't back down and places it just out of Cuthbert's reach. GOAL THISTLE.
78 mins: Some more good trickery by Erskine to beat a defender but his finish to that effort was abysmal, slicing high and wide from 25 yards.
75 mins: Could have been a hat-trick for Doolan but for a good save from Cuthbert. Naismith's good link up play allowed Doolan that opportunity.
73 mins: Erskine turns past his man well but his low strike drifts wide. Elliott is replaced by Naismith.
72 mins: A cross from the left is laid off to Paton standing on the edge of the box but he just lifts his shot over the crossbar.
70 mins: Wardlaw comes on for the other ex-Thistle player, Mark Roberts. Parker's booked for a foul on Sinclair.
66 mins: Cairney rushes inside the Ayr box to head a high ball but it goes wide by some distance.
64 mins: GOAL THISTLE. Another goal for the Jags, and another goal for Doolan. A header as cool as you like into the same bottom corner - the goalkeeper's left - from Erskine's cross.
63 mins: Handball by Doolan at the half way line. Referee initially plays advantage but brings it back for an Ayr free-kick.
58 mins: Change for the visitors with former Jags defender John Robertson being replaced by namesake Ross Robertson.
55 mins: GOAL THISTLE. Great strike from Kris Doolan. The ball fell to him outside the box and the no. 9 struck it sweetly into the bottom corner.
50 mins: Sinclair whips a dangerous ball in towards the front post but Smith manages to clear for a corner.
48 mins: A long punt forward by Cuthbert catches Sinclair out as it bounces over the defender's head, but any danger is quickly halted by O'Donnell.
46 mins: Both teams are on the pitch, Thistle coming out a minute earlier than their opponents, and the second half has started.
The last 15 minutes have been an improvement but make no mistake about it, Ayr United were making the Jags looks silly at times in that first half. Keigan Parker's early goal seperates the sides at half-time as Thistle continue to search for a first home goal of 2012.
44 mins: Great solo work by Erskine leads to a fantastic Thistle chance. He dribbled past a few players before finding Elliott unmarked in the box. Cuthbert got down low to save, knocking it straight back to Elliot who was on the ground. He managed to dig out another shot but his effort found the stand.
43 mins: Roberts is flagged offside.
40 mins: Paton is next to knock one into the stand after Cairney's cross is cleared to the midfielder lurking on the corner of the box.
39 mins: The ball is shifted to Sinclair upfield on the left, who fires far too high from over 30 yards out.
38 mins: Smith slides in to beat Cairney to a through ball that splits the Ayr defence.
36 mins: Cairney tries to ghost in ahead of Dodd as Sinclair delivers a deep cross, but it's got too much pace on it and flies out for a goal kick.
33 mins: Rowson forces Cuthbert into a great save, but it's spilled back out. Erskine whips it back in but Dodd manages to hack it behind.
31 mins: A good delivery from O'Donnell from the right wing fails to find its sliding target, Doolan, in front of goal.
29 mins: Corner to United. It eventually falls to Tomsett who has a speculative shot blocked.
28 mins: Free-kick to Ayr in a good position on the far side. Just a few yards away from the box. It's headed away from danger however.
27 mins: Tomsett has a go from 25 yards but it sails just over Fox's crossbar.
25 mins: Thistle clear and Rowson finds Cairney not far outside Ayr's half with a nice cross from the right. He controls it before striking towards goal but Cuthbert gets behind it well.
25 mins: Dodd is fouled and wins a free-kick 20 yards inside the Thistle half.
21 mins: First corner of the game and it's for the Jags. It's knocked in low and doesn't beat the first man.
20 mins: The boos are ringing out now at Firhill and it's hard to blame the fans. Roberts has a good chance at the backpost as the ball drops to his left foot but he crashes it into the side netting. Thistle losing the ball far too easily from slack passing and failed dribbles.
19 mins: Some more hesitation in the Thistle backline allows Ayr United another opportunity. The ball is knocked across goal but it's just got too much on it for Moffat to reach.
15 mins: O'Donnell floats a cross in towards Cairney at the far side but it's tame and Cuthbert comfortably collects.
12 mins: The ball is in the back of the Thistle net 40 seconds later but it's correctly ruled out for offside. The Jags fans are getting a bit restless.
12 mins: O'Donnell is forced to clear it off the line after Tomsett is presented with two opportunities to trouble the Thistle defence through Archibald's poor clearance.
11 mins: Fox has to rush outside his box to deal with a high ball. Thistle haven't really provided a reaction to going behind yet.
5 mins: GOAL AYR UNITED. Keighan Parker pokes it past Fox from just a few yards out after Dodd's good work down the left wing allowed him to send a low cross in towards the middle of the goal.
3 mins: Cairney wins the ball on the far side and runs at two defenders, gets in behind them but loses possession just inside the box.
0 mins: The teams are out now at a windy Firhill Stadium. Ayr United get us kicked off - with Thistle shooting towards the North Stand.
PRE-MATCH NEWS: Thistle remain unchanged from the weekend's 0-0 draw with Morton for the home tie tonight, against Ayr United. Which means as manager Jackie McNamara expected when speaking ahead of tonight's clash, both Christie Elliott and Aaron Sinclair are fit enough to start. There's one swap on the bench with Stuart Bannigan taking the place of Sean Welsh.
