Ryan MacBeth Moves On

After being approached by the player, Thistle have agreed to cancel the remainder of Ryan MacBeth’s contract.

Ryan came through the youth ranks at Firhill and made his first team debut in a Scottish Cup tie with Stirling Albion in November 2008 when he replaced Alan Archibald for the closing stages of the tie that Thistle won 3-2.

Ryan continued to make good progress at Firhill and started the 2010/2011 season in the Thistle first team, scoring the winning goal against Clyde in the Challenge Cup in the opening game of that season.

Sadly the remainder of Ryan’s time at Firhill was severely hampered by injury, although he did have a spell on loan with Clyde for a spell last season.

In total Ryan made six first team appearances for Thistle and his goal against Clyde was his solitary strike for the Thistle first team.

Said manager Jackie McNamara;

“Unfortunately Ryan’s recent time at the Club has been blighted by injury, his last game for the first team was a pre-season friendly with Blyth Spartans, and he has struggled to get back to the level that he was once at. I think it is in his best interests to move on and we wish him well for the future.”
