Signed back in May from Annan Athletic, Aaron Muirhead’s Partick Thistle career started in earnest on Monday when he joined his new team mates for the start of pre-season training.
ptfc.co.uk caught up with Aaron just after he had finished the second of two gruelling sessions on Monday and we asked him how his first day at the Club had been?
“The boys have made me very welcome. It was a little different in the regard that previously I trained just twice a week and here I’ve come in and done a double session right away.”
“Training every day, and training under the likes of Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly, who know a lot about the game, should really help bring my game on.”
A ‘new boy’ Aaron may be but he isn’t a stranger to some of the squad.
“I know a couple of the boys anyway and I’ve moved in with Christie Elliott and he was very good at introducing me to the boys.”
So how was the first day?
“It was quite tough but it is good to get all the crap out of your system. My legs are a bit stiff but I suppose most of the boys will feel the same.”
As important as the hard work is at the start of pre-season training is, Aaron is looking forward to the games starting. Our first pre-season friendly coming against Alloa Athletic at Recreation Park in a little under a fortnight’s time.
"This is the part of pre-season where you put in all the hard work and hopefully see the benefit of that hard work once the game start."
