Tomorrow afternoon we welcome to Firhill a Dundee side that are experiencing a quite remarkable season. Tipped by many to clinch promotion this season after missing out last season, they had a quite miserable start to the campaign.
Form on the pitch though became a secondary concern when news of their financial problems broke. Survival off the park was more important at that point than winning points on it.
These problems, plus the 25 point deduction that was handed to them for going into Administration, though has brought the squad closer together and they come to Firhill defending a long unbeaten run.
Tomorrow’s game is certainly an attractive looking one and one that manager Ian McCall is keenly anticipating.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said;
“Up to our defeat at Morton I would have labelled this a match between the two form teams in the First Division. It’s certainly a game that we are really looking forward to, not least because it is at Firhill, where we haven’t played for some time. It’s been at Firhill where we have had our better results this season. It’s been away from home that we have had more problems though I’m convinced that’s the case with performances. We’ve produced a number of good performances away from home but not had the results to go with those performances. I’ve long since discovered that there is no rhyme or reason to things involving Partick Thistle.”
“Last week at Ross County I didn’t think that we played particularly well but the players gave everything that they had. We lost Willie Kinniburgh to injury during that game. Willie had a scan in the earlier part of the week and that has confirmed that he has a thigh strain and will be out for 2-3 weeks. He is though due a period of suspension anyway.”
“We are fortunate that we have John Robertson that can come into the team. The form of John, Willie and Alan Archibald this season has been absolutely terrific.”
“Simon Donnelly is still experiencing problems with his foot and he will miss out tomorrow. But him and Willie aside everyone is fit. Ross McGeough and Shaun Fraser are added to the squad. We are fast getting to the stage where we will have to give Ross a chance in the first team. We are coming round to the idea that he might be better in a wide right position rather than at right back and we will play him in that position in a couple of reserve games with a view to giving him a chance in the first team in that position.”
