Gerry Britton

Gerry is now involved at Firhill in a third separate capacity.

Gerry first arrived at Firhill as a player when he signed from Celtic in August 1992. As Thistle fought successfully against relegation from the Premier League Gerry topped the Thistle scoring charts with 13 goals including the third in the famous 3-0 win over Rangers in May 1993.

Midway through the following season Gerry, alongside George Shaw, left Firhill to join Dundee.

Spells as a player followed with Dunfermline Athletic, Raith Rovers and Livingston.

After leaving Livingston he returned to Firhill at the start of the 2001/2002 season. Newly promoted from the Second Division Thistle made it two promotions in a row when they won the First Division. Gerry's contribution to a hugely successful season, which also included an appearance in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, was 15 goals.

Gerry remained a vital component of the Thistle squad the following season as Thistle defied the odds to survive in the SPL. In addition to playing Gerry made his first step into the coaching side of the game when he took charge of the Thistle Under 21 side.

The following season with Gerry Collins in charge, replacing the retired John Lambie, was less successful with Thistle struggling almost right from the start of the season.

After Collins left the manager's position at Firhill he was succeeded by Gerry Britton and Derek Whyte who assumed the role of co-managers. They were unable to prevent Thistle from being relegated from the SPL and with Thistle in turn struggling in the First Division the following season they were replaced by Dick Campbell.

In total Gerry made 179 appearances as a Partick Thistle player and scored 43 goals.

After leaving the role of co-manager at Firhill Gerry had brief spells as a player with Motherwell and Brechin City. He returned to football management with Stranraer at the start of the 2006/2007 season. When Gerry left Stair Park to return to Firhill in February 2008 Stranraer were sitting in third spot in the Third Division.

In January 2010 Gerry left the position of Assistant Manager but not Firhill entirely. Combining a career in the law profession with the role of Head of Youth Development at Firhill.
