Glasgow Taxis will provide free transport to the elderly people and those living in hardship visiting Firhill this Christmas Day as part of Partick Thistle Charitable Trust’s (PTCT) Festive Friends project.
In partnership with the SPFL Trust, PTCT will again open the doors of The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill this December 25 so that more than 100+ invited guests can enjoy festive food, entertainment, a small gift and, most importantly, company.
Glasgow Taxis Ltd, which last week announced a new partnership with Partick Thistle Football Club, is proud to support the Festive Friends initiative through the provision of a number of free taxi trips to and from the venue for local people.
The news follows Thistle players – across the men’s and women’s first team squads – all donating £35 each which will pay for a local person’s Christmas Day visit to The Energy Check Stadium At Firhill and help forge friendships that will last forever.
Dougie McPherson, Glasgow Taxis Ltd chairman, said: “We’re delighted to play our own small part in helping make this year’s Festive Friends the biggest and best the trust has hosted so far. Christmas can be a challenging time for some of the most vulnerable people in society and it is in keeping with our role as a friend of the city to do what we can to support those people when they need it most.”
PTCT set a 2019 Festive Friends fundraising target of £2,000 with the aim of extending the reach of the project this year, aiming to welcome at least 100 people on December 25. This week that figure has been smashed thanks to the generosity of all members of Thistle’s men’s and women’s squads.
