An impressive Thistle display results in three unanswered goals and three very welcome points. 

A Joe Cardle goal gave Thistle a half-time lead with early second half strikes from Scott Tiffoney and Brian Graham has Thistle on easy street as they comfortably saw out the rest of the game. 

All eyes are now on Tuesday's fixture with Clyde. 

Ritchie takes the free kick which is headed clear by MacIver. 

Peterhead have a free kick at the right hand corner of the Thistle box. 

Penrice tries a shot from fully 40 yards out that Rae saves with some comfort. 

There is a break in play as there is a clash of heads between Bailey and Penrice. Both are sitting up though and look okay. 

Penrice has been involved in the thick of things since coming on and he does well again to get a cross over from the left that MacIver gets his head to but can't get far enough away from Rae to find the net. 

The two substitutes almost have an instant impact. Lyons has the ball on the right and he crosses for Rudden whose shot goes just wide. 

Foster drives forward with the ball and finds Penrice with a ass to his left. Penrice drills in a low cross that the outstretched foot of McDonald nearly diverts pass his own keeper for an own goal. 

Geggan is a little unlucky not to find MacIver in behind the Peterhead defence with a neat pass. 

Penrice gathers a Foster cross inside the box is adjudged to have used a hand to control the ball and is denied the chance to try and find a fourth Thistle goal. 

A sharp turn at the edge of the box gives Murray a chance for a shot. His shot is cleanly enough struck but just too straight to truly trouble Rae. 

Murray is penalised for a foul and Peterhead have a free kick 30 yards from the Thistle goal. Scott Brown takes it but it is an easy save for Sneddon. 

That's as soft a goal as you are likely to see but they all count. Graham's header from a Cardle cross shouldn't pose Rae in the Peterhead goal any problems but he fumbles the ball over the line and Thistle suddenly have a three goal advantage. 

Rae gets a hand to divert Graham's header from a Tiffoney cross. 

It's a vital second goal for Thistle and the move starts with a long clearance from Sneddon that Cardle is able to get on the end of wide on the right. He has a chance to shoot for goal himself but instead lays the ball across the face of goal for Tiffoney to slide home from about a yard out. 

Graham glances a header from a Tiffoney cross wide of goal as Thistle continue to press for a second goal in the early stages of the second half. 

Peterhead don't make a good job of clearing Cardle's corner and Tiffoney has a chance to get the ball back into the box but makes a mess of his cross. Thistle have started the half well. 

It took Thistle a bit of time to build up a head of steam in this match but they take a deserved lead, courtesy of a Joe Cardle goal, into the dressing room at the interval. 

It's a well struck free kick from Scott Brown but it curls wide of Sneddon's left hand post. 

Peterhead have a free kick in a central position about 25 yards from the Thistle goal. An anxious moment for The Jags. 

Cardle's corner is cleared but the ball is picked up by Docherty whose cross drifts away from Graham at the back post. 

Thistle have been getting more and more on top in the game and they take what is a deserved lead. Seconds after being denied a goal himself, Murray sets up Cardle for a neat finish from 6 yards out. 

Thistle are close to taking the lead. Cradle lifts an excellent ball into the path of Murray and he is denied by an excellent save from Rae. 

It's another deep corner from Cardle that Peterhead clear. 

McKenna gets into a good position to deliver a cross but the cross is poor and is collected by Rae at his front post. 

Graham tries a speculative effort from outside the Peterhead box that goes high over the crossbar. 

Cardle is again entrusted with the corner. It finds the head of McKenna deep inside the box but his header is wide of goal. 

The ball falls invitingly for McKenna inside the box but he can't find a team mate with his cut back and has to settle for a corner. 

Best chance yet for Thistle. Cardle sends in a great ball from the right that picks out Docherty's run but he can't make clean contact with the ball and Rae makes a comfortable save. Better signs all the same. 

Thistle have a brief spell of pressure with a dangerous Foster cross and a Docherty shot blocked at the edge of the box. 

The corner is cleared and Thistle try and break quickly through Cardle but with no success. 

In a game of few chances so far Thistle are struggling to make much impression on proceedings with Peterhead looking dangerous at set pieces. 

Cardle's corner is far too deep and goes out for a throw on the far side. 

Sneddon is able to get his hand to Conroy's corner and that is enough to get the ball to safety although Peterhead remain on the attack. 

Cardle's free kick is cleared. 

Thistle win a free kick for handball near the left hand corner of the Peterhead box. 

Conroy's corner is nodded down towards the Thistle goal but the referee spots a push and Thistle have a free kick. 

First chance for either side and Peterhead should be in front. A low cross comes over from the right and Jordan Brown sees his shot deflected wide when he looked set to open the scoring. 

Brownlie is hurt as Sneddon comes off his line to clear for a corner. Brownlie is back up without needing treatment and Thistle clear the corner. 

Very little happening anywhere near either goal mouth at the moment. Thistle are probably seeing a shade more of the ball but only in the middle of the pitch. 

Back defending, Brian Graham is the man to head the game's first corner clear. 

Brownlie is well placed to clear a dangerous looking cross from the Peterhead right. Thistle have settled reasonably well though. 

Thistle, back in red and yellow this afternoon, kick the game off and will shoot towards the 'Billy Gibson End' in the first half. 

Thistle make their first return to Peterhead since a certain famous play-off win but it is the present that very much occupies Thistle's thoughts this afternoon. 

With a win vitally important Ian McCall has made three changes to the side that started midweek against East Fife. 

In come Ciaran McKenna, Steven Bell and Joe Cardle while Ryan Williamson, Shea Gordon and Mouhamed Niang drop down to the bench where there is a slot for a fit again Blair Lyons.
