With such a short pre-season this summer manager, Alan Archibald, has had a number of injuries to contend with and has been particularly hard hit in the goalkeeping department with Tomas Cerny ruled out and Ryan Scully currently struggling with a thigh strain.
Thistle’s Betfred Cup campaign begins this evening against Airdrieonians and Alan has added the experience of 31 year old goalkeeper, David Crawford, to his squad; with the former Stirling Albion and Montrose custodian penning a short term deal at Firhill.
David began his career with Queen’s Park, being part in the side’s playoff promotion campaign in the 2006/07 season. Since then, he has featured for a number of clubs throughout Scotland, spending last season with Alloa Athletic.
In 2014/15 David joined the illustrious list of goalkeepers to have scored a competitive goal in Scottish football, when his long clearance beat Montrose opponent Lucas Birnstingl as Arbroath won an Angus derby 5-1.
David featured for the Jags last weekend as a trialist against Morton and will go straight into the squad for tonight’s game.
