90’Full Time Report

Honours are even after an entertaining pre-season fixture with Thistle twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 against their Championship opponents.

70’Thistle corner from the right
68’Goal Thistle! Brian Graham
Thistle 2 - Ayr United 2

Not sure if that is an own goal or not as Ayr's Baird gets the final touch as he attempts to prevent Graham's header from finding the back of the net.

68’

Cardle's cross from the right is well defended despite Graham's best efforts to get on the end of it.

66’

The Ayr keeper is in action again this time turning away Murray's low shot from the edge of the box.

64’

Glass manages to find room for a shot but Sinisalo saves at his near post.

63’Thistle substitution: Joe Cardle replaces Shea Gordon
62’Thistle substitution: Ciaran McKenna replaces Richard Foster

60’

Sneddon makes a fine block to prevent Ayr from adding a third goal.

59’Ayr United substitution: Trialist replaces Michael Moffat
58’Ayr United substitution: Michael Miller replaces Andrew Murdoch

56’

It's a poor corner from Glass but he does get the ball back and this time delivers a much better cross to the back post where Thistle look to have won another corner but the game restarts with a goal kick.

55’Thistle corner from the left

55’

That's much better from Graham who holds the ball up well and draws a foul about 35 yards from the Ayr goal.

54’

Penrice touches the ball back into the path of Graham but bhe screws his shot well wide of target.

51’Goal Ayr United! Aaron Muirhead
Thistle 1 - Ayr United 2

Ayr are back in front and that is a really soft goal to lose as Muirhead's low effort goes under Sneddon and into the net.

49’

Thistle have a chance to catch Ayr on the break and Bannigan is able to push the ball to Gordon to his left. Gordon's touch though is heavy and he isn't able to get a shot away.

47’

Sinisalo gets to Murray's cross ahead of Graham.

46’

Bannigan's corner goes deep to Murray at the back post who slices his attempted volley away from goal.

46’Thistle corner from the right

46’

Thistle free kick near the right corner of the Ayr box.

45’Kick-Off (2nd half)

00’

We're back underway and there have been no Thistle changes at the interval.

45’Half Time Report

As pre-season games goes this has been an entertaining, open game of football.

Ayr struck first when Joe Chalmers found the net with a free kick after 11 minutes but Thistle were level 9 minutes later when Ross Docherty fired high into the net after a Glass corner hadn't been cleared.

Thistle were close to a second goal when Graham saw his effort tipped over the bar.

45’Half-Time

44’

Glass' corner is missed by everyone and is collected by Murray on the right side. The ball eventually finds its way back to Glass but as he knocks the ball forward to Graham the flag goes up for offside.

43’Thistle corner from the left

42’

Chalmers goes for goal but there is no accuracy this time and the ball goes well over the bar.

41’

Walsh has his heels clipped and Ayr are going to have a chance to get the ball into the Thistle box as half time approaches.

38’

This time Ayr are able to clear the Thistle corner.,

37’Thistle corner from the left

37’

Thistle are a whisker away from the lead with Graham's effort touched over the bar after the striker collected a headed pass from Brownlie.

31’

Gordon is pulled back after collecting a crossfield pass from Bannigan. Bannigan trots over to take the free kick but there is no real pace to his floated free kick and Ayr easily clear.

28’

O'Ware whips the ball away from McCowan as Ayr try and hit bThistle on the counter attack.

20’Goal Thistle! Ross Docherty
Thistle 1 - Ayr United 1

Thistle are back level. Ayr never quite manage to clear Glass' corner and when the ball falls nicely to Docherty about 12 yards he fires high into the net against his old team.

20’Thistle corner from the right

19’

Glass does well to work the ball out to Penrice on the left and his driven cross is pushed away by Sinisalo.

15’

Zanatta is fouled as he attempts to find a route into the Thistle box and Ayr have a free kick in a dangerous if wide position. The free kick though is poor and ZSneddon makes an easy catch under little pressure.

11’Goal Ayr United! Joe Chalmers
Thistle 0 - Ayr United 1

With only Chalmers standing over the ball there is no doubt as to who is taking the free kick and when he finds the net via the underside of the bar you can understand why. Sneddon has little chance as Ayr have an early lead.

11’

McCowan is fouled and Ayr have a free kick right on the edge of the Thistle box in a central position.

07’

Ayr pass up an excellent chance to take an early lead as Reading wins the ball from Bannigan and sends his shot a foot or so wide of Sneddon's right hand post.

06’

Murray's cross from the left hand side is headed clear.

04’

Thistle have their first effort on goal as Glass collects a Docherty pass at the edge of the Ayr box but his effort is too high and goes over the crossbar. It's been an open game so far.

02’

McCowan pushes forward right to the edge of the Thistle box and his well struck effort isn't too far wide of Sneddon's left hand post.

00’

Thistle in apparent 4-4-2 formation are shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first half and are quickly on the attack with Foster getting into good position on the right but his cross is cleared.
