Partick Thistle is pleased to confirm that Ian Maxwell, the club’s managing director, has today been elected to the SPFL Board. It’s the first time that the club has had a seat on the Board since league reconstruction in 2013.
Ian, alongside Ann Budge and Peter Lawwell, will act as a representative for the Premiership clubs. His term of office is one year but he can be re-elected thereafter.
Commenting on the news, Ian said: “I’m honoured to be elected to the SPFL board and look forward to representing Premiership clubs at this level. Over the last 18 months, we have been doing things differently at Partick Thistle – I hope to bring some of that fresh thinking to my new role for the wider benefit of Scottish football.”
Thistle Chairman David Beattie added: “We are proud to see Ian join the SPFL board. I know that he will offer an independent perspective and level of challenge, combined with sound football knowledge, that can only benefit the game in Scotland.”
