To mark the 50th anniversary of the club’s historic League Cup Final win over Celtic, Thistle fan and former newspaper sports editor Lorne Gardner is writing a book charting the events of that day including the build-up and aftermath of the encounter.
Provisionally entitled ‘1971 – What a Sensation!’ the book charts an unforgettable 24 hours in the history of the club, featuring interviews with each player, recollections of the build-up to the game, taking you inside the dressing room and into the minds of the players before, during and after their Hampden heroics.
And you can be a part of it too by contributing to a key chapter.
With one section of the book devoted to fan recollections, Lorne is keen to hear from anybody who was there that day or who has special memories of the match. Perhaps you were taken there by your grandfather, maybe it was your first ever game and it began a lifelong love affair with the Jags! Did you bunk off work to go? Or even travel hundreds of miles just to be there?
Everybody has a story to tell.
If you fancy getting involved, email your story to . Try to contain it to 500 words and please submit by March 31 to avoid disappointment.
Hopefully it will bring happy memories flooding back.
