Last year, I asked that we stand together and make season 2020/21 a winning one as our fate and success once again lay in our own hands and our hands alone.
Despite the challenges we’ve faced, at the first time of asking we’ve won the league. Having put right the wrong done to us a year ago, now it’s time to close the door on past events and concentrate on building a brighter future for Thistle.
As the trophy is presented today, our heartfelt thanks go to the players and the football staff who support them. Their determination and fight when others had written us off was inspirational and a reminder that in football, as in life, it’s not over until it’s over.
In particular, I would like to pay tribute to our manager Ian McCall. He led from the front and never wavered in his belief in the players. His conviction that we would win the league this year was absolute, despite every obstacle thrown in his path over the season. He has never hidden how important this Club is to him, so it’s great to see all his hard work and belief rewarded. Congratulations, Gaffer!
United, strong and determined, we can now look forward to our rightful return to the Championship. To our supporters, I hope that when we kick off for season 2021/22, you’ll be back and we can celebrate this win properly. Until then, have a great summer…
