Director of the Thistle Weir Youth Academy, Scott Allison, is stepping down from his role at the end of the month after three years in charge. When the Academy was established in 2013, he was deputy to its previous head, current Thistle CEO Gerry Britton who thanked Scott for his time in charge saying:
“Scott has skilfully steered the Academy through the challenges of the last 18 months and leaves it in a strong position with good ties to the first team. Young players can now see the value of the Academy’s professionalism and support as well as having a clearer route to progressing their careers at Thistle or elsewhere in football.
“We thank him for all he’s achieved for the players who’ve come through the Academy and we wish him well for the future.”
Recruitment is underway to identify the right individual to take the Academy on to the next stage of its development. In the interim, TWYA staff members Ryan McCann and Craig Mair, assisted by TWYA Trustees Gerry Britton and Duncan Smillie, will oversee Academy operations until an appointment is made.
