PTWFC October Player of the Month

After getting the club’s first ever top flight victory in September, PTWFC looked to build on that during the month of October.

Playing five games, the team were able to get some more points on the board with the outstanding result being an excellent 3-2 win over Hibernian at Petershill Park. A point earned against Hamilton Accies also helped to ensure the team were clear of bottom spot heading into November.

However, there’s still the matter of the October Player of the Month to be decided with four candidates vying for the prize:

 

Amy Bulloch

In Thistle’s one victory during October, Amy Bulloch was the match-winner. She scored twice en route to a 3-2 win, netting a penalty in the 52nd minute before firing home from 20 yards out 14 minutes later. Offering more than just her goals, Bulloch has been a crucial cog in Brian Graham’s midfield both in and out of possession, starting four of the team’s five games last month.

 

Danica Dalziel

The squad has had its fair share of injuries to contend with already this season and the goalkeeping department is included in that. With Lauren Grant already missing, Lauren McGregor picked up an injury against Celtic, leaving the team without a recognised ‘keeper. That’s when Danica Dalziel stepped up to the plate. The former Glasgow City defender played four games between the sticks in October, performing admirably and making some truly impressive saves along the way, demonstrating the team-first attitude present among the squad.

 

Cara McBrearty

Having scored in the team’s first victory of the league season against Motherwell, Cara McBrearty has continued to be a key attacking threat for the Jags through October. Starting all five games last month, Cara’s standout moment came against Hamilton Accies as she unleashed a bullet on the half-volley to put Thistle into the lead.

 

Rebecca McGowan

Since joining the club back in September, Rebecca McGowan has impressed with her energetic performances in the Jags’ engine room. The number 16 started Thistle’s four league games in October and even managed to grab her first goal in red and yellow as she put the team into a 2-1 lead against Hibs. She won the ball back in the midfield, played a one-two and then applied the finishing touch, summing up her importance to the team in both defending and attacking.
