Tomorrow’s Community Champion, with our partners at McDonald’s Maryhill, is a lady who has been serving the North Glasgow community for over 40 years.
Sadie Gordon is a retired youth and community health worker, but she likes to stay in touch with her community and has worked tirelessly in and around North Glasgow, where she has lived and worked for over 40 years.
But retirement hasn’t slowed Sadie down. She has served on the Board of Management of Queens Cross Housing Association since 2006. Sadie is also a Board Member Representative for the Woodside Community Involvement Group and is involved in a number of external groups including an NHS Scotland Public Partnership Forum. She is also involved in the Greater Milton and Possilpark Credit Union.
Sadie is also Chair of Young People’s Futures, and has taken part in the Possilpark Summer Camp for over 30 years – making a real difference to the lives of the young people in the area. In honour of her work in the community, Sadie was named Unsung Hero of 2014 at the Herald Society Awards in recognition of 40 years of dedicated service to a dizzying tally of community projects in North Glasgow.
Sadie is a family person with three sons and one daughter, Sadie has six grandchildren and three great grandchildren but she still finds time to make a valuable contribution to the community.
Having spent over 40 years servicing the community of North Glasgow it is no surprise to see Sadie nominated to be tomorrow evening’s Community Champion. Everyone at Partick Thistle, along with our friends at McDonald’s Maryhill, hopes that Sadie has a great night here at Firhill.
