It's a fourth straight win for Thistle and the third in the league. 

As they did against the same opposition in the Premier Sports Cup midweek, Thistle left in late in this one too. 

Playing against 10 men for virtually the entire second half, Thistle were being frustrated by a resolute Arbroath side until Anton Dowds knocked the ball home with five minutes remaining after Ross Docherty's shot had rebounded from the post. 

The win was secured with a minute of the 90 remaining when Cole McKinnon fired an unstoppable shot high past Gaston. 

We're into additional time with Thistle defending a free kick. 

That should seal the points. McKinnon picks up the ball inside the box, finds some space and absolutely thunders a shot high past Gaston. 

A low drive fizzes past Mitchell's right hand post. Arbroath want a corner, but a goal kick is the decision. 

Thistle are in front. Docherty's shot from the edge of the box swerves and thumps off the base of the post right into the path of Anton Dowds who slams home from close range. 

Milne's cross looking for Dowds is too high and goes out for a throw on the other side. 

Into the final 10 minutes. No real sign of a Thistle goal coming as Mullen gets ready to come on. 

Dowds touches home Smith's cut back but the flag was already up for offside. 

Thistle are getting no joy against a very solid looking Arbroath defence. 

It looks as if er are going to see another couple of Thistle changes coming up. 

Far too easy a task for Gaston to collect that Turner corner. 

It looks as if there are signs of activity on the Thistle bench. 

Graham puts too much on a pass trying to find the run of Fitzpatrick to his left and Gaston is able to slide and collect. 

Turner and Lawless try and work a short corner but with no success. 

Good handling again from Gaston, this time to collect a Lawless cross looking for the head of Graham. 

Gaston shows clean hands to claim a Turner cross from the Thistle right. 

Thistle look for a free kick at the edge of the Arbroath box, but referee Williams waves play on. 

Milne's cross is too close to Gaston as Thistle press for the opening goal. 

McKinnon drills a low shot right across the face of the Arbroath goal that Graham can't get a touch to at the back post. 

Arbroath are down to ten men as Allan picks up a second yellow in rapid succession for his challenge on Docherty deep inside the Thistle half. 

Thistle are so close to lead. Turner gets a clear look at goal. He does manage to get the ball past Gaston, but Gaston gets enough on Turner's shot to prevent it crossing the line with the ball cleared for a corner. 

We're back underway at Gayfield. 

It's goalless at the interval. 

It's been a half of at best half chances with Thistle having the better of those but neither keeper has been overly stretched. 

Into first half injury time. 

McMillan swings over a cross from the right that Graham stretches to try and get on the end of but can't quite manage to do so. 

A Graham header from a Turner free kick drops harmlessly wide of goal. 

A promising Thistle break is halted when McKinnon goes too soon to collect Turner's pass and is caught offside. Thistle have been the better side for much of the first half but haven't had a real clear look at goal yet aside from Holt's header inside the first minute. 

Lawless plays a lovely pass back into the path of Turner inside the box, but his touch lets him down and any opportunity is lost. 

The free kick is touched to Holt whose shot deflects to Milne, but he can't beat Gaston with his shot. 

Fitzpatrick is fouled and Thistle will have a free kick in a threatening position. 

That's the best corner yet from Turner but Thistle aren't able to take advantage of it, although they remain on the attack for now. 

Thistle deal with Allan's corner and Linn's subsequent cross without any difficulty. 

Thistle look for a free kick at the edge of the box for a foul on Docherty but none is forthcoming. 

McMillan plays a low ball across the face of the Arbroath goal that doesn't pick out a Thistle player. The Jags are dominating at the moment. 

Turner lifts the corner towards the back post where Gaston struggles to make a clean catch, but the referee spots a push and awards the home side a free kick. 

Muirhead tries a low drive from at least 35 yards out. It is well enough struck but never troubling the Arbroath goal. 

Turner goes deep to the back post with this corner trying to find the head of Holt, but the corner is well defended.

It's been the home side that have had the better of things so far but Lawless does manage a shot from the edge of the box, but it is a comfortable save for Gaston. More encouraging all the same for Thistle. 

More threat to the Thistle goal. This time down the opposite flank but Linn's effort from the cross goes over Mitchell's crossbar. 

Some pressure from Arbroath down the Thistle left but Linn's cross is collected by Mitchell. 

That's an early chance for Thistle. Graham forces a corner and from that corner Turner finds the head of Holt whose header is just a shade too direct at Gaston who clings on to save. 

Arbroath kick the game off and Thistle will be shooting towards the away end in the opening 45 minutes. 

Fresh from defeating the same opposition in the Premier Sports Cup midweek, Thistle make the trip to Angus this time in search of three league points. 

Ian McCall has made three changes to his starting eleven from the side that won midweek. 

Injury keeps Scott Tiffoney on the sidelines for this one with scorer of th winner on Tuesday, Aidan Fitzpatrick stepping into his starting slot. 

The two other changes see Brian Graham get the nod ahead of Anton Dowds and Cole McKinnon replaces Stuart Bannigan.
