It's a fifth straight home win for Thistle who leave it late to gab all three points.
Just two minutes remained when a Kyle Turner corner was knocked home by either Kevin Holt or Ross Docherty. Nobody is too sure but is enough to secure the win and one certainly to be watched back with interest.
Into injury time.
Thistle are in front late on. Turner's corner is converted at the back post. Not quite sure who got the final touch at the moment.
Docherty has his legs taken from under him and Thistle have a free kick wide on the right.
Turner's corner is again defended and Thistle are forced back into their own half.
Turner's corner is headed clear.
Morton are able to clear a decent looking Mullen cross from the right hand side.
Piece of trickery from Tiffoney gets him away from Grimshaw who hauls him back before Tiffoney can progress too much further.
Nearly a chance for Dowds but the ball won't sit for him after it breaks to him in the box.
Tffoney's pass finds Bannigan wide on the left. He lifts a cross to the back post. It's headed back towards goal where Dowd's header is saved by Schwake.
Hodson pushes a pass to Turner to his right. Turner though can't angle his shot away from Schwake who saves.
Crowd: 3,640
Tiffoney has come on to play on the left with Fitzpatrick switching to the right hand side.
Miller's shot is never likely to beat Sneddon but the Thistle keeper needs to be alert to save all the same.
There looks to be some activity on the Thistle bench. A sub or two could be incoming.
It's a poor free kick though from Turner and the ball goes out for a goal kick without a touch.
It's Hodson's turn to be fouled and Thistle have a free kick deep inside the Morton half.
Morton have been the better side since the Thistle penalty with the home side struggling for any meaningful possession. Lawless does win a free kick near the half way line though.
Muirhead has space inside the Thistle half with only his Thistle namesake in front of him. He can't get past Aaron and fires a shot wide of goal.
Thistle can't clear a free kick and the balls into the path of Baird who fires home.
Morton manager Imrie is sent off.
Loud appeals for a Morton penalty as Crawford goes to ground inside the box. I'll be honest it looked a good shout to me.
With the minimum of fuss, Lawless steps up and slots the penalty home.
Fitzpatrick again has the Morton defence on the back foot. His shot deflects off a defender and goes wide. Referee Muir, however, deems that the deflection came via a Morton hand and gives Thistle a penalty.
Fitzpatrick simply has too much pace for Grimshaw. His shot though is half blocked and that allows Schwake to make a comfortable save.
It's goalless at the break. Thistle have probably had the better of things but there hasn't been any clear cut chances at either end.
We're going to have a break in play as we approach half-time with Ambrose needing a spot of treatment.
Graham is able to find Bannigan to his right. Bannigan lifts a cross into the box where Fitzpatrick's header loops over the crossbar.
Lawless goes round the outside of Strapp and gets himself into an excellent position inside the Morton box but his cross is poor and Schwake collects at his front post.
A Fitzpatrick cross clips off the top of the Morton crossbar and goes out for a goal kick.
Schwake elects to punch Turner's corner and he gets enough of a fist to it to get it clear.
Crawford's corner goes over everyone's head and drifts out of play for a goal kick.
McMillan's late challenge on Strapp earns him a yellow card. With play deep inside the Morton half it was perhaps a silly challenge to make and puts the full back under a bit of pressure for the rest of the game.
Ambrose is struggling when up against any kind of pace and Fitzpatrick nearly profits from that. Indeed there is a coming together between the two players with appeals that Fitzpatrick was barged off the ball.
Sneddon needs to hurry to clear ahead of Quitongo. He looks to take a knock in the process but is back on his feet without the need of any treatment.
Thistle look for a corner when there is a flick to a Turner free kick. It looks as if Graham was the player that flicked the ball on and the referee agrees and Morton have a goal kick.
When they do clear the corner, Morton break quickly and in halting the counter attack Hodson's foul earns him the game's first yellow card.
Two quick Turner corners have Morton on the back foot but they do eventually clear.
Play quickly switches the other end and Quitongo is able to get the ball into a dangerous position. Miller can't flick the ball home but it breaks to Strapp who slices his effort well wide.
Turner takes the free kick and Morton struggle to clear until Baird nods the ball back to Schwake.
Lawless is fouled as he tries to cut inside to the Morton box and Thistle have a free kick wide on the right.
The Thistle goal is under pressure and a shot is blocked the ball spins loose but the flag is up for offside.
Good positive spell from Thistle and Turner plays the ball into the box looking for a touch from a team mate but the ball goes out for a goal kick.
Turner takes the corner and Muirhead isn't too far away from making contact with it. Muirhead's reaction suggests that that was a real chance.
Turner forces Ambrose into an error and wins Thistle their first corner.
Ambrose gets the final touch to Muirhead's corner but it isn't threatening the Thistle goal.
Early signs are that it's Lee Hodson filling the left back position with Muirhead and Holt in the centre of the Thistle defence. McMillan as usual at right back.
Thistle kick-off and are shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first half.
It's a brand New Year of football at Firhill and Morton are our visitors for our first home fixture of 2023.
2022 didn't get off to the best of starts and The Jags will be looking to get back on track with a three point haul this afternoon and maintain their excellent home record.
Ian McCall's staring eleven shows three changes from the side that faced Queen's Park on Monday.
In come Kevin Holt, Lee Hodson and Stuart Bannigan.
Harry Milne, Darren Brownlie and Cole McKinnon are the trio that miss out, the latter two taking up positions on the Thistle substitute bench where there is a place for Scott Tiffoney.
