There is disappointment etched onto the faces of the Thistle players as the full-time whistle sounds as they have to settle for a share of the points.
For long spells of a frustrating second half it didn't look as if they would get even that but Brian Graham's equaliser 8 minutes from the end set up a grandstand finish with Scott Tiffoney almost finding an injury time winner only for his shot to be blocked by Fulton.
Weston picks out Tiffoney with aa cross and Fulton makes a good block to keep the score at 1-1.
Tiffoney back defending makes an important interception inside the box.
There in an opportunity for Thistle as Weston comes forward with the ball. He finds Mullen but his touch is poor and he runs into a challenge.
The 90 minutes have come and gone. Is there an injury time winner in this game for one team?
Docherty's corner is nodded towards goal where Mullen can't keep the ball in play.
A Fitzpatrick effort from the edge of the box finds the side netting.
We're back level! Fitzpatrick sends over the cross from the right and Graham's near post run is rewarded as he flicks the ball home. There is little celebration from Thistle as they are eager to get things going again.
We're into the final 10 minutes. For all Thistle's possession and pressing it's been a bit too comfortable for Hamilton.
Martin lifts a cross into the Thistle box but Tiehi can't get enough on his header and it clears the crossbar.
Graham fires a high ball across the face of goal. McKinnon does well to divert it back towards goal but there is no pace on the ball and Fulton collects.
Tiehi turns inside the box but his shot is straight at Mitchell.
A cracking cross from the left from Milne is cleared as Thistle continue to press but without creating any real openings.
Docherty manages to evade a couple of defenders on the Thistle right and tests Fulton with a low shot when perhaps a cut back for Graham might have been the better option.
A ball over the top for Tiffoney briefly offers hope of a chance. A clearance rebounds off Tiffoney but away from goal and away from the Thistle player.
Turner's corner is far too close to Fulton who makes a routine catch albeit under a little pressure.
It's a good cross from Fitzpatrick from the right but a defender is across to prevent Tiffoney from being able to slide in to connect with it.
A McMillan cross to the back post finds Tiffoney but Tiffoney in turn can't find Graham with his cut back as Thistle still haven't fashioned a chance of any note in the second half.
Turner's corner is cleared. McKinnon tries to head the ball back towards goal but Fulton collects,
Thistle clear a Lawson corner from a congested 6 yard box.
This time Docherty is more certain of his course of action but his shot thumps off a defender.
Frustration grows as Docherty collects the ball at the edge of the box. He looks to be caught in two minds between shooting for goal or trying to find Lawless with a pass and in the end does neither and the ball goes behind for a goal kick.
Referee Napier isn't winning any friends with the Thistle fans at the moment which might be as much to do with frustration over the score as it is anything else.
There are two shouts in quick succession, from the the Thistle fans at least, for penalties. The first for a challenge on Milne, the second for a handball after a Lawless shot.
Back underway. Thistle trailing by that crazy, crazy goal just before half-time.
A crazy goal gives Hamilton a narrow lead at the break just as Thistle were looking the more likely side to open the scoring after an even first half of football.
Thistle should be level right on half-time. Turner picks the ball up again after his corner is cleared. He crosses again and the ball is flicked on for Graham who knocks the ball over the bar.
Graham's header from Turner's corner is tipped over the bar by Fulton.
Lawless tries to fire Thistle immediately back into the game but his shot doesn't have enough height to really trouble Fulton.
It's a crazy goal that gives Hamilton the lead as Mitchell's clearance thumps off McMillan and flies into the empty net.
It's definitely Thistle that are finishing the half the stronger and a long range McKinnon effort goes narrowly wide of goal.
Thistle are getting closer as we near half time and Fitzpatrick sees his fierce drive pushed away by Fulton. The second good stop in quick succession from the Hamilton keeper.
Turner takes the corner himself and the ball is flicked on for Milne who can't in turn flick the ball towards goal and it goes wide for a goal kick.
Thistle haven't seen a lot of the ball inside the Hamilton half in the last few minutes but they come close to opening the scoring with Fulton making a good stop low near his left hand post to keep out Turner's effort.
A header is glanced well wide of goal when the free kick comes over.
Milne clips Martin and Hamilton win a free kick in a dangerous position near the right corner of the Thistle box.
Winter demands, unsuccessfully, a corner as he flashes a shot wide of the Thistle goal.
Thistle don't entirely clear a Lawson free kick from a deep area and the ball is picked up by Martin at the edge of the box but he drags a poor effort comfortably wide of Mitchell's left hand post.
Lawless finds Bannigan with a nicely judged chipped pass but Bannigan isn't able to get enough on his cross and it is easily dealt with.
Turner tries to catch out Fulton with a free kick from deep but the Hamilton keeper is able to get across in time to save.
Lawless comes deep for the ball and picks out McKinnon with a great pass. McKinnon's first touch takes his away from goal and his cross when it comes over is cleared.
The free kick goes to the far edge of the 6 yard box where Holt heads clear. Hamilton pick up the ball again and Doyle sees his cross blocked.
Holt is penalised for a foul and Hamilton have a free kick near the right corner of the Thistle box.
It's a deep corner from Mimnaugh. Thistle clear but Accies pick up the ball once again.
Most people are expecting Holt to take the free kick but it is Dcoherty that hits it. It's tame effort though that doesn't threaten the Accies goal.
Fitzpatrick is fouled and Thistle have a free kick about 8 yards outside the box and in a fairly central position.
Both teams trying to settle into the game in blustery conditions. Thistle have seen more of the ball than Hamilton but haven't put Fulton's goal under any pressure so far.
Hamilton get the game underway. Thistle are shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first half.
Thistle field the same starting eleven for the first home league fixture of the season that started the season with a win at Dens Park last Saturday.
There is one addition to the substitute bench where Darren Brownlie joins the eight subs that were listed against Dundee.
