Partick Thistle Women’s FC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Megan Cunningham on loan from Rangers for season 2022/23.
Megan joins the club having played a number of games as trialist during pre-season and has previously spent time at Celtic and Glasgow City. The shotstopper featured in two games against The Jags last season for Rangers, keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 defeat for The Jags at Petershill Park in November.
Cunningham has two full Scotland caps to her name as well as a number of International youth caps in a career that has saw her play for some of the top teams in SWPL1.
Manager Brian Graham said: “I’m delighted to add Megan into the squad. She is a goalkeeper of high quality who has a lot of experience at this level.
“She comes in to compete with our current goalkeepers and that competition can only be good for the standards in what is an important position. She brings a lot of professionalism in the way she trains and prepares and that will rub off on the rest of the squad too”
It’s another piece in the jigsaw as we look to take the club forward and improve on last season’s great first season in SWPL1
“I’d like to thank Rangers for all their help in allowing Megan to join us for the season”
Megan Cunningham said: “I’m really happy to be a Partick Thistle player. I really like the vision the club has, it’s a club who are really on the rise and I’m delighted to be part of that.
“I played against the team last season twice and it was some of the hardest games we had. You can see Brian has them well drilled. He’s got a winning mentality which I love, I’m very competitive, I love to win and I think I can do that here.
The clubs seems to breed a togetherness, a group of players who really fight for each other and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be part of that and hopefully I can help the girls too
