It was another successful Partick Thistle Open Day yesterday as Thistle supporters, young and not so young, gathered at Firhill to meet the first team squad on an afternoon of fun for all the family.
Hosted by our very own Michael Max, the afternoon started with the first team taking part in a training session on the Firhill turf, with popular winger Scott Tiffoney returning to training for the first time in a number of weeks. Michael grabbed a number of players for quick chats throughout the session with the Jags support in attendance getting an insight into the coaching delivered by the Jags management team.
Entertainment within the concourse was provided by our fantastic busker Kyle O’Donnell who serenaded attendees with a selection of lively tunes to get the afternoon off to a perfect start. Junior Jags memberships were renewed and goody bags were collected as young supporters signed up for another exciting season ahead. Our friends at Scottish Rowing, in association with the Firhill Youth Project, had on-land rowing machines available and the competition intensified to reach the top of the leaderboard.
The Partick Thistle Charitable Trust gathered teams onto the pitch for a successful penalty shoot-out promoting the hard work of the Trust on the programmes they deliver to help the full community.
The first team squad signing session was, without doubt, the most popular part of the afternoon as almost 500 Thistle supporters queued patiently to get their signatures and selfies with the Jags first team.
After meeting the players, it was time to grill the gaffer in a Q&A which covered a diverse range of topics all about Partick Thistle – no afternoon could be complete without a selfie with the gaffer himself!
The event was rounded off with Jags fans given the opportunity to take to the hallowed turf for a beat the goalie competition where they could try to use the tips provided by Assistant Manager Neil Scally to beat young goalkeepers Mason McCready and Dean Wilson.
Our thanks goes to everyone who attended our Open Day yesterday afternoon and we look forward to another successful Open Day next summer
