Partick Thistle Women’s FC are excited to announce the signing of striker Abbie Ferguson on loan from Celtic until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old joins recent signing Charlotte Terry in making the switch from the other side of Glasgow.
Ferguson made her Celtic SWPL1 debut last season against Thistle in a victory at Petershill Park and has featured on a number of occasions over pre-season for Fran Alonso’s side including as a substitute appearance against The Jags during a friendly in the summer.
The striker has been capped and scored four times for Scotland at Under-16 level and will go straight into the squad for the match against Motherwell on Sunday.
Abbie will wear number 22 for Thistle this season.
Manager Brian Graham said: “I’ve been looking to add another goalscorer to the side to give the team some more options up the top end of the pitch and Abbie certainly fits into that catagory. She is a young player with a lot of potential.
“We’ve been able to get her in for a few training sessions and she has a lot of pace and is composed in the box. She loves to really cause defenders problems.
She will add an extra dimension to our attack.
I want to thank Fran Alonso at Celtic for allowing Abbie to come on loan this season”
Abbie Ferguson said: “I’m looking forward to coming to play football this season. I feel this is the perfect place for me to come and play football and learn.
As a striker coming to play for someone like Brian Graham who is a top striker himself was a real draw and I feel there is a lot he can teach me
“I can learn both from him and the other players already at the club.
“There is a lot of quality in the squad so I’m excited to see what we can do this season”
