Partick Thistle Football Club have announced that several local Specsavers stores are now the official optical sponsors of the Jags.
Specsavers in Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs and on Byres Road are the three stores that have come together to launch the partnership that will continue over the next 18 months.
The partnership will involve specialist eye-care for all players in the men’s first team squad, including Optical Coherence Tomography scans (OCT) that generate a 3D image for specialists to identify future health concerns more easily.
The wider Partick Thistle fanbase will also benefit from the partnership, being offered 20% off all frames over £69, available only at the specific partnered stores.
Gerry Britton, Chief Executive and former striker at the club, says: ‘It’s fantastic to team up with some of our local Specsavers stores, meaning the players’ eye health is cared for and we can also give something back to the fans in the form of real discounts so they can best look after their own eyes.
‘It’s a huge positive for the club that a leading brand such as Specsavers wish to create lasting relationships with us, and I can’t thank Neil and the wider Specsavers team enough for their support.’
Neil Drain, optical director at Specsavers in Kirkintilloch, and lifelong Thistle fan, says: ’My Father grew up just behind the stadium near Ruchill and so I’ve been coming here since I was yah high, so it is a pleasure to be able to offer something back to the club I love; players and fans alike.
‘As an optician, the strain on the face of the club’s mascot, Kingsley, has caused me concern for several years now, so I’m optimistic that we can offer a prescription that can help him see games a little better.
