McCrea Financial Services December Player of the Month

It was an exciting December for Partick Thistle as the team continued an unbeaten run which started with back to back wins to end November.

A trip to Cove Rangers, a first for the Red and Yellow Army, started the month and a point was salvaged in dramatic circumstances. After denying the home team on a number of occasions Jamie Sneddon raced forward for a corner bulletin home a header to take a point south.

After a week break, Thistle returned to action by hosting Ayr United at Firhill. Despite falling behind, goals from Harry Milne and Brian Graham saw Thistle lead at the break. Ayr dragged themselves level again before Steven Lawless saw the three points remain at Firhill as the league leaders were defeated.

Just before Christmas, Inverness were the visitors to Firhill but the men in red and yellow put on a show for the Firhill faithful. Brian Graham and Kyle Turner had the Jags firmly in command but goals from Cole McKinnon, Aaron Muirhead and Danny Mullen helped Ian McCalls side to a 5-1 win moving to within four points of the league summit.

After an eventual unbeaten month we have four candidates for the McCrea Financial Services December Player of the Month award.

Aidan Fitzpatrick

The Thistle Weir Youth Academy graduate returned to form in December featuring in all three matches in December. It was a pair of Firhill performances that saw him show what he is capable of as he provided a pair of right backs with a tough ninety minutes in Maryhill. Always a threat and capable of moments of magic, Aidan provided a pair of assists during a Man of the Match performance against Inverness. Does he get your vote for December’s award?

Another all-action performance against Inverness set the basis for Thistle’s emphatic pre-Christmas win. Will Harry secure your vote as Player of the Month?

Jamie Sneddon

Thistle’s trip to Cove Rangers was a Jamie Sneddon masterclass. Popping up with important saves to keep the Jags in the game, Thistle’s number one raced forward for a 95th minute corner. Stuart Bannigan’s delivery was met with a bullet header by Jamie Sneddon as he secured a point for Thistle – becoming the Jags first goalkeeper to score from open play in the club’s history. Returning to Firhill saw Jamie returning to the more distinctive traits of his Jags career by making important saves at key moments in victories against Ayr United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
