Congratulations to Alan Rough MBE

All at Partick Thistle FC wish to congratulate Alan Rough after he collected his MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in Edinburgh earlier today.

Roughie – now Alan Rough MBE – is rightly celebrated as Thistle’s all-time record appearance holder, 1971 Scottish League Cup winner and the club’s most capped player – indeed, only three Scots have more men’s World Cup Final appearances than he.

Following his retirement from playing, he has since served at Firhill in a number of roles and to the present day continues to volunteer to assist with the club’s monthly Football Memories group to help local people with dementia.

Alan was officially awarded his MBE in Edinburgh today for services to football and charity as part of HM The Queen’s Jubilee Birthday Honours List 2022.

From everyone at Firhill, to Roughie and his family, warm congratulations on this richly deserved accolation.
