PTW February Player of the Month

With the SWPL1 split edging ever closer, February was always going to an important month for Partick Thistle Women’s FC with the focus of the month being on three massive league games as the battle for the top six rages on.

Two wins from those three league encounters see Thistle sitting in sixth place heading into March with their last match being a convincing 6-0 home win over Glasgow Women.

Now, it’s time to pick your PTWFC Player of the Month for February from the following candidates:

 

Clare Docherty

One of the most consistent performers in the Thistle team, Clare Docherty has had another impressive month in red and yellow. Playing an important part in Thistle’s clean sheets against Hamilton Accies and Glasgow Women, she has also shown her attacking capabilities by scoring a terrific header to take Thistle’s Scottish Cup tie against Hearts to extra-time.

 

 

Rachel Donaldson

Thistle number 12 has gone from strength to strength this season and February has been a continuation of that trend. Her incredible goal against Glasgow City might have been her standout moment of the month had she not gone on to score a hat-trick against Glasgow Women two and a half weeks later!

 

 

 

Abbie Ferguson

In a tightly-contested game against Hamilton Accies at Petershill Park, it was one moment of creative magic which made the difference for Thistle and that moment came from on-loan striker Abbie Ferguson. The number 22 picked up the ball wide on the left and delivered an inch-perfect ball into the box for Cara Henderson to head home. She didn’t neglect her goalscoring duties though, popping up with the fourth goal in the 6-0 win over Glasgow Women.

 

Cara Henderson

No one in the Thistle team has been involved in more goals than Cara Henderson this season with the midfielder sitting on six goals and eight assists in 20 appearances. A match-winning header against Hamilton preceded assists in the following two games, against Hearts and Glasgow Women, as Henderson’s number continue to tot up.
