This Wednesday 10th May, PTWFC take on Rangers at Broadwood Stadium for a 19:45 kick off.
Thistle come off the back of a 2-1 defeat against Celtic in a gut wrenching loss for the jags. A great showing from the girls that nearly saw them take points off the current 2nd place side in the league, they’re looking to move on and prepare as we head to face a strong Rangers side.
A result here for Brian Graham’s side would be massive as we face a Rangers side who are still in a tight title race at the top of the table.

💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Rangers have had a great season, picking up 72 points so far in the league from a possible 87. Sitting in 3rd position, Malky Thomson’s side will be looking to secure all three points and keep up the pressure in the title race on both Glasgow City in first and Celtic in second, who are only ahead of the blue side of Glasgow on goal difference. Having gained a win against Hibs at the weekend, they’ll be looking to carry on this momentum as they prepare for this Glasgow Derby.
The last meeting between the squads ended in a 5-0 defeat at Petershill Park. The Gers came out on top in that tie and, despite the heavy scoreline, Thistle put up a good performance with a highly depleted squad in that tie a month ago.
Thistle welcomed Celtic to Petershill on Sunday and straight away were at a disadvantage. With only one recognised outfield sub in the form of Taylor Fisher, plus on-loan striker Abbie Ferguson ineligible and several injuries forcing squad members to miss out, it was always going to be an uphill battle.
Celtic came out on the attack immediately testing the waters on Megan Cunningham from the start before eventually taking the lead through Caitlin Hayes. However, Thistle didn’t lie down and after a fantastic team goal, Cara Henderson scored her 10th of the season, making her top scorer, and equaled the score at 1-1. Heartbreak is the only way to sum up what would come as Caitlin Hayes would score her second of the match with only 12 seconds to go robbing the Jags of a well-deserved point.
Brian Graham spoke in his post match interview of how proud he was to be the manager of this squad and how gutted he felt for the squad to lose in such a painful manner. He knew that this would only make the girls stronger as we prove ourselves game after game in the top six of this league against the best in the country.
Strong followings from the Red and Yellow Army so far this season have really helped our girls. Your support has played a huge part helping the Jags and we hope to see as many of you as possible against Rangers under the floodlights on Wednesday evening for this Glasgow derby.
Megan Cunningham is ruled out of this tie through ineligibility as she remains on loan from Rangers this season. Cheryl McCulloch also remains out for this clash as she continues her recovery from her ACL injury. Abbie Ferguson is in contention to return to the squad following her ineligibility against Celtic. While the Jags were down to the bare bones on Sunday with only Taylor Fisher recognised as an outfield sub, hopefully a trip to the physio midweek will allow us to have a few more bodies back before we make the trip to Broadwood on Wednesday night.
