Thistle canter their way into the play-off final with an emphatic 5-0 win on the night and an 8-0 win on aggregate. 

We'll see you at Firhill on Thursday night where either Kilmarnock or Ross County will stand in the way of a place in next season's Premiership. 

Dowds nearly gets in on the act with a 6th on the night but his shot clears the crossbar. 

Thistle have a fifth and you can't claim it isn't deserved. Turner's corner finds the head of Holt and he finds the net. 

Thistle lead 8 (eight) o on aggregate,

It's a great cross from the left from Holt but Dowds finish is wide of target. 

Thistle clear after the back post corner is headed back towards goal by McGinty.

Docherty pushes a pass to Mullen to his right but his chipped effort drifts wide of goal. 

I suspect both sides would be quite happy to hear the full-time whistle. Thistle with the play-off final on the horizon and Ayr just to end the agony of the tie. 

A ragged Ayr defence nearly present Dowds with a gift but he shoots over the bar. 

Thistle are down to ten as McMillan needs a change in footwear. 

It's a tidy close range finish from Lawless that extends the Thistle lead even further. 

Even I'm confident we've got another two games of the season to play now. 

Thistle lead 7-0 on aggregate. 

Mullen gets the ball on to his left foot inside the Thistle box but Brownlie is swiftly across to make a block. Thistle are determined to give Ayr nothing. 

If there was any doubt over the outcome of this tie they've been removed now. It's Lawless to McMillan who crosses for an easy finish for Tiffoney. 

Thistle 6-0 up on aggregate, 

Thistle are careless in possession deep inside the Ayr half allowing the home side to threaten but Turner gets back to snuff out the danger. 

Fitzpatrick threatens down the left but makes a mess of his cross. 

That first 45 minutes could scarcely have gone better for Thistle goals. 

Goals from Jack McMillan and Scott Tiffoney have extended an already commanding first leg advantage. 

There was a further blow for Ayr when Akinyemi was sent off after throwing an arm at Muirhead. 

McGinty is back on for Ayr. 

Ayr are down to 9 for now as McGinty goes off to have a cut attended to.

Tiffoney looks to be caught by a stray arm. No suggestion of intent this time and play restarts with a drop ball. 

Holt's run enable to reach Turner's corner but his header takes the ball away from goal and Ayr have a goal kick and some brief respite. 

Fitzpatrick cuts across the edge of the box before finding Lawless who sees his shot deflected over the bar. 

Muirhead takes charge to head clear a cross from the right. 

It's nearly a third. Fitzpatrick delays his pass waiting for Graham's run. He finds Thistle's top scorer but he can't add to his season's tally as Albinson blocks. 

Graham picks up a Docherty pass at the edge of the box. He finds a bit of space for a shot but it is too high and clears the bar. 

Ayr simply can't cope with the pace of Fitzpatrick and he early finds a lurking Graham with his cross but a defender manages to head clear. 

With Ayr in disarray Thistle break and when Fitzpatrick crosses from the left Tiffoney is there to tuck the ball home. 

Thistle now 5-0 up on aggregate. 

It's a red card for the Ayr striker. 

Akinyemi throws an arm at Muirhead, who crashes to the ground, after he is fouled by the Thistle defender. What colour of card will we see?

Holt flings himself at the ball to block a Mullin shot and looks to have hurt himself in the process. 

A curling effort from Tiffoney near finds the net with Graham just failing to reach the ball as he stretches for it. 

Thistle aren't far away from a second as a flicked header from Holt Turner's corner goes narrowly wide of the far post. 

Akinyemi gets the ball up to the feet of McKenzie in the box but Holt is across to clear. 

Ayr try and make a quick response but Akinyemi drags a shot well wide of goal from the left corner of the box. 

Vital first blood for Thistle. Fitzpatrick's shot is saved by Albinson but McMillan, and what a play-off series he is having, bundles the ball over the lines from about a yard out. Thistle now lead 4-0 on aggregate. 

First moment of anxiety for Thistle. Akinyemi turns and sees a shot blocked. The ball spins to McAlear and Mitchell clutches on to the ball close to his left hand post. 

We have an immediate delay as Graham is clattered but Thistle number nine doesn't require on field treatment. 

After a delay that has done nobody's nerves any good Thistle get the game underway. Thistle shooting towards the home end in the first half. 

Kick-off in this play-off semi-final second leg is now less than 15 minutes away and as the big travelling support increases in numbers so too does the tension up here in the Somerset Park press box deep in 'enemy' territory. 

Thistle go into tonight's fixture in a strong position with a three goal advantage from the first leg but nothing, absolutely nothing, can be taken for granted. The job is far from done. 

For the third play-off game in a row Thistle manager Kris Doolan names an unchanged starting eleven with the only change coming on the bench where Lee Hodson returns. 

Ayr meantime make 4 changes as they aim to overcome that first leg deficit.
