This Sunday 14th May, PTWFC take on Glasgow City at Petershill Park for a 16:00 kick off.
Thistle come off the back of a 3-0 defeat against Rangers in a tough defeat for the Jags. A great defensive showing from the Jags preventing a much heavier scoreline, the focus now immediately shifts onto our “away” game against Glasgow City on Sunday.
A result here for Brian Graham’s side would be massive as we face a Glasgow City side that need to win as they look to secure the SWPL1 title heading into the final day of the season.

Glasgow City have had a great season, picking up 77 points so far in the league from a possible 90. Sitting at the top of the league, Leanne Ross’ side will be looking to secure all three points and keep the top spot with Celtic and Rangers tight on their trail, and both playing earlier than them in the day. Speaking of Celtic, the green and white side of Glasgow beat City 3-1 on Thursday evening in a historic game with the highest ever crowd registered in the SWPL taking the gap between the sides to just 2 points.
The last meeting between the squads ended in a 2-0 defeat at Petershill Park in a tightly contested game with goals coming from Beatriz Prades Insa and league top scorer Lauren Davidson. Thistle put on a great showing that afternoon and will look to use the positives from the last encounter as we head into this game on Sunday.
Thistle made the trip to Broadwood Stadium on Wednesday night with a once again depleted squad.
Having several stars out such as Linzi Taylor and Rachel Donaldson with Injury and Megan Cunningham through ineligibility, it forced Brian Graham to work with the tools at hand against a very physical presence in the form of Malky Thomson’s Rangers side.
Keeping Rangers at bay for most of the first half, Thistle would eventually go down just on the brink of that first half as Lizzy Arnot headed the Gers into the lead. An injury to Kim Murphy forced a substitution at the break allowing a returning Jordan McLintock into an unfamiliar centre half role in a back three however she adjusted and performed well. Kirsty Howat would double the lead before a rather soft penalty was given in favour of the home side to leave the final score at 3-0.
Brian Graham touched in his post match interview about how proud he once again was at his girls for putting up a fight against Rangers with the girls playing their 3rd game in a week at this point and how hard it must be taking its toll on them considering all of the teams in the top six are professional or a hybrid form while we remain part time. That, tied in with the sheer size of Broadwood compared to the likes of Petershill Park, meant it was always going to be a tough battle but we dug in and gave it our all from start to finish.
Strong followings from the Red and Yellow Army so far this season have really helped our girls. Your support has played a massive part helping the Jags and we hope to see as many of you as possible against Glasgow City “away” on Sunday afternoon in this Glasgow derby.
Linzi Taylor and Cara Henderson both miss out through suspension for the one with the pair having accumulated too many yellow cards throughout the season.
On a more positive note, manager Brian Graham hopes to welcome Clare Adams back to the squad with the midfielder having missed the last couple of games with a knock.
Megan Cunningham will be available again after missing out being unable to play against her parent club on Wednesday night.
It’ll be up to the management squad to decide the strongest squad available as we approach our 4th game in just 12 days in the Parks Motor Group SWPL.
