It is with enormous delight that Partick Thistle Women’s FC confirms that Rachel Donaldson has agreed to continue her Partick Thistle career for the duration of the 2023-2024 season.
A player of undoubted quality, with Champions League experience with her previous club Celtic, Rachel first appeared in a Partick Thistle jersey in February 2022 playing a Trialist in a 1-0 win over Hamilton before signing permanently.
In her first season as a Jag, Rachel made a total of 16 appearances scoring twice.
This season Rachel has been a key player in Thistle’s success. From 30 appearances she has scored 9 times with her contribution not just limited to goals. In additional to those 9 goals Rachel has provided an assist for a further 5 goals making her a potent attacking force.
Rachel became the first player at the club to be nominated for a league Player of Month award this season.
That Rachel sees her immediate future as part of the PTWFC set-up is a major boost ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
Said manager Brian Graham; “I’m delighted Rachel will be a Partick Thistle player again next season. She is a player with undoubted ability as you can see by some of the goals she has scored this season.
“It’s not just the goals through, her general play and her leadership in the dressing room has been important part of our finishing in the top six this season.
“I’m looking forward to building on that success next season with Rachel in the squad”
Rachel Donaldson said: “I didn’t have to think twice about signing on for next season. I’ve loved my time here so far and we’re building something really special at the club just now.
“We all bought into Brian’s vision this season and together we achieved our aims.
I’m looking forward to setting new goals next season and going out to achieve them with this group of girls”
