Partick Thistle Women’s FC is delighted to announce that Clare Docherty has agreed to remain with the Club for the 2023-2024 season
Clare has been part of the Partick Thistle set up since arriving at the Club from Kilmarnock back in December 2019. Doc made her Thistle debut in the opening league game of the 2020 season against Glasgow Women marking her debut with a goal in a 2-0 Thistle win. Sadly that season was brought to an early halt as a result of Covid.
When football resumed Clare was nominated for the 2020-2021 SWPL Player of the Year award after scoring 10 times in 18 appearances.
Last season Clare started to occupy a more defensive role occupying the right full-back role in a SWPL1 Thistle side with great distinction while remaining an attacking threat when coming forward.
With 81 appearances to her name as a Partick Thistle player Clare is now closing in on the 100 appearance mark as a Thistle player and the Club is delighted that she sees her future at Petershill Park.
Manager Brian Graham said: “Clare moved back to a defensive role last season and done so brilliantly. She was terrific on both sides of the ball giving us that solidity at the back whlle offering a great threat going forward.
“She is the ultimate professional and really looks after herself, she’s one of the fittest in the team so it’s great to have a player like that back next season.”
Clare Docherty said: “I’m delighted to be back for next season. I think I will become the longest serving player next year and that is something i’m proud of.
I just feel at home here and love being part of this club.
“We had a great season this year and it’s important we build on that next season, i’m looking forward to being part of where this club goes next”
