Aidan Fitzpatrick’s association with Partick Thistle began at the age of 11 when he joined the Thistle Weir Youth Academy, almost immediately being touted for big things by the coaching staff.
Working his way through the ranks of the academy, Fitzy’s talent was admired beyond the boundaries of Firhill Stadium with the winger earning multiple Scotland youth international call-ups alongside some of the countries best young players.
He signed his first full-time deal with the club in May 2017 but would have to wait until the following summer to make his first team debut which came against Albion Rovers in the Betfred Cup. Coming on as a 71st minute substitute, it took the then 17-year-old just 13 minutes to score his first senior goal becoming the first Jag born in the 21st century to play and score for the club.
The 2018/19 term proved to be a breakout year for Aidan as he played 30 games and scored seven goals, attracting interest from across the country. In the end it was Norwich City who made a move for Thistle’s young star and he joined the Canaries in the summer of 2019.
After some time spent playing for Norwich’s under 23s, Fitzpatrick was back in Scotland with Queen of the South on loan for 2020/21 before turning that move permanent the following season. Over the course of his two seasons at Palmerston Park he played 41 times and notched seven goals.
He departed the Doonhamers at the end of the 2021/22 season to return to Maryhill on a trial basis. After completing a full pre-season with the squad, he was eventually re-signed by the club on 13th July 2022, just in time to make his second debut that evening against Kilmarnock.
He got his first goal back at the club in a 4-2 win over Montrose in the Premier Sports Cup before re-opening his league account a week later in a 3-2 win against Dundee.
Aidan’s first season back at the club saw him make 47 appearances all-in-all, with seven goals and seven assists in those games.
In the summer of 2023, Aidan committed his long-term future to the Jags by signing a three-year deal.
Fitzpatrick kicked on again during the 2023/24 campaign with 20 goal involvements in 47 games in all competitions. His 11 goals made him the youngest Jag to score more than 10 in a season since Steven Lawless in 2012/13.
Contract Expires: Summer 2026
