Partick Thistle Women’s FC are delighted to announce the signing of Emma Lawton from Motherwell as we continue to prepare for the 2023/24 campaign.
Emma is making her return to Petershill Park having previously spent a very enjoyable spell with the club as a teenager.
The full-back, who was part of the Thistle team which earned promotion from the SWFL Division 1 back in 2018, went on to play for the Manchester City Development team before returning to Scotland with Motherwell last summer.
On the signing, PTWFC manager Brian Graham said:
“I’m really pleased to add Emma to our squad. She’s an enthusiastic player who will fit right in with the energetic and determined group we’ve got at the club.
“Despite being just 21 she’s already got a great bank of experience including a previous spell here so she knows what’s required to be part of a team week after week.
“She’s already taken part in a couple of training sessions with us and she’s impressed me a lot so I’m looking forward to seeing more of what she’s got to offer as the season gets underway.”
After re-joining, Emma Lawton said:
“It was clear from playing against Thistle last season that the set-up here is outstanding. The atmosphere around the place seemed like a very positive one and you can’t help but want to be a part of that.
“I was here a few years ago but a lot has happened since I left and it’s incredible to see where the club is now and what’s been achieved in such a short space of time.
“Now it’s about going and making more history. Having spoken to my new teammates and the coaching staff it’s clear that everybody is keen to go and do even more so I’m excited to hopefully contribute to that.”
