The newly strengthened Partick Thistle board, led by interim chairman Alistair Creevy, have been busy and focussed reviewing all departments of the football club and this includes the Thistle Weir Youth Academy.
The academy would have required a review this summer regardless given it has been historically funded by Colin Weir and that funding stream closed off following Colin’s passing in 2019.
The current position is that the club and the academy are working closely together to explore funding solutions to enable the continuation of full academy operations for next season and beyond.
A number of potential sponsors and partners have already been engaged with by the club and academy and those conversations are being progressed as priority on a daily basis.
We have today written to parents/guardians with this update and will be liaising with them over the next few weeks to discuss this current position further and endeavour to keep them fully updated throughout the process.
