💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Hearts have started the season in decent fashion, sitting in 7th having picked up 9 points from a possible 21 available.
Having faced a difficult opening round of fixtures including all other top six teams from last season already, Eva Olid will be hoping her side can secure all three points and get on equal pegging with the Jags.
Having had tight contests with Thistle last season, this tie is sure to be a good matchup in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
It was a cold, wet and windy evening on Wednesday night at Petershill Park as the Jags welcomed Spartans. It was a scrappy affair and a goal from Hannah Jordan was the difference maker on Wednesday night as she pounced on a loose ball and buried it from the edge of the box.
The girls couldn’t really get going despite their efforts and didn’t play to their usual strengths. Even a strong attacking bench, which featured the return of Rachel Donaldson, who has been struggling with injury this season, couldn’t get the equaliser and the Jags fell to their first home defeat of the season.
Speaking in his post match reaction, Brian Graham spoke about his side’s performance saying that they were nowhere near the side that they have been in recent times. Reviewing the performance, he said they would regroup as they prepare to head to Edinburgh and face a side they haven’t beaten in over a year.
Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army have really helped our girls and we hope to see as many of you make the journey through to the capital and cheer the side on come Sunday afternoon.
Our number 3 has had a flying start to the season so far as she’s flourished since making her return to the Jags from Motherwell. This work and form has been recognised as she has received the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month for August. Alongside this, Emma has also received a call up to the recently reintroduced Scotland Under 23s squad which is due to face Australia in the upcoming international break! A huge achievement, everyone at the club is delighted for her and wishes her the best of luck for the match up.
Linzi Taylor returns to contention having been left out of Wednesday night’s fixture as a precautionary measure while Rachel Donaldson returned as a sub midweek as she looks to get back to full fitness.
A few knocks are set to be assessed by the physio and management team heading into this fixture as we play the final game before the international break.
