A cause close to the heart of Jags midfielder Ben Stanway has been chosen as a charity partner for 2024/25 by longstanding Thistle sponsor McCrea Financial Services.
As one of the longest serving sponsors of the Jags, McCrea Financial Services are delighted to announce that they have chosen Revive MS Support as one of their 2024/25 charity partners; as chosen by Ben for his December Player of the Month winner charity donation pick.
Revive MS Support is a local charity in Glasgow who provide nationwide support for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis by helping them manage the physical, emotional, social and financial impacts that come with a diagnosis.
McCrea are synonymous with Partick Thistle, and the popular McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month awards have been a monthly staple for the Jags support for much of the last decade. At the start of this season, McCrea introduced an extra incentive for the monthly award winner; a monetary donation to a charity of the winners choice.
Since 2008 McCrea have raised over £700,000 for various charities, having raised a combined £43,060 total for their 2023/24 charity partners The Emma Cameron Foundation and Glasgow Care Foundation. In November 2023 McCrea were awarded the ‘Best Community Service Endeavor’ award by the MFG Supplier Awards 2023, which recognises the work that Financial Service Organisations do in the voluntary sector, with judges noting the great importance that McCrea place on charitable causes.
Having recently visited Revive MS Support to meet some of the amazing team behind the scenes, Ben was delighted that McCrea have chosen to support the charity for their upcoming fundraising year, which tee’s off with their 14th Annual Charity Golf Day on 25th April.
“It means a lot to me to be in a position to help a charity which helps people with multiple sclerosis’’ said Ben. “Choosing Revive MS Support was a very personal choice from me, as the mum of one of my best friends right next door to me lives with the condition. I know she, Geraldine, has good days and bad days and when I’m with my best friend I can tell that too; he can be quiet and down when she’s struggling, so I’ve seen the wider impact of MS first hand. Any way we can make a difference we should try to do that.’
“When I won December’s McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award, I asked my friend and his mum if there was a charity a donation would help, and they suggested Revive MS as they have helped her previously. To now see that turn into a year of support from McCrea Financial Services as one of their charity partners for the year is amazing so a big thanks goes to everyone at McCrea. It was brilliant to visit Revive MS’s Glasgow base recently and meet some of the staff there and I’m now looking at some of their fundraising events with a view to adding even more support myself.”
