Scott Robinson’s second half goal made it three wins in a row for Partick Thistle as Dunfermline were seen off 1-0 at the KDM Group East End Park.
Firhill manager Kris Doolan made one change to his starting line-up from last weekend’s win over Queen’s Park with Aidan Fitzpatrick dropping out after picking up a knock and Robbie Crawford was brought in from the start.
There was also the welcome sight of Terry Ablade returning from a short spell on the side-lines and take a place on the substitutes’ bench.
After a minute’s silence for Remembrance was impeccably observed Stuart Bannigan kicked the game off with The Jags deploying Kyle Turner on the left and Crawford in the middle of the midfield trio.
Brian Graham looked to have set up the visitors’ first attack on three minutes with a pass down the right for Logan Chalmers however Kieran Ngwenya got back to cover and end the danger.
Three minutes later Chris Hamilton appeared to handball before sliding a pass through to Chris Kane however the ball raced over the touchline and the game restarted with a by kick.
On nine minutes a combination of strong running and fine skill took Harry Milne deep into the Dunfermline box with his low cross cut-out before finding a team-mate.
Crawford was tripped 40 yards from the home goal five minutes later however Thistle’s hopes of putting pressure on Tobi Oluwayemi’s goal were ended when Bannigan’s dead ball was cleared.
Shortly afterward Dan O’Reilly dived to head away a dangerous cross at the expense of a corner that fell to Kyle Benedictus who sent a shot high over.
On 20 minutes Doolan’s side had two good chances in quick succession with Robinson played in behind the home defence by Graham only for three defenders to converge on him.
A corner was the midfielder’s only reward as his shot was deflected wide and, from Turner’s corner, Graham rose highest with his flicked header flashing just wide.
Three minutes after the half-way point of the first half a fine flowing move involving Robinson, Bannigan and Kanayo Megwa took Thistle some 60 yards up the pitch only for the full back’s cross to be blocked.
Robinson was tripped wide on the right wing nine minutes from half-time to give Chalmers the chance to send over a left-footed in-swinging free kick that Lee Ashcroft was just unable to get on the end of.
On 42 minutes a lightning raid on the Dunfermline goal was started with a Graham turn and pass right to Chalmers who advanced and advanced until he was one on one with Oluwayemi who was able to turn the midfielder’s shot wide.
As The Maryhill Men kept up the pressure before the break Ashcroft’s header was clawed away by Oluwayemi from under his bar.
Half Time – Dunfermline Athletic 0 Partick Thistle 0
Megwa and Chalmers looked to take the game to the Fifers on the restart however they were repelled by a determined Dunfermline defence.
Ashcroft stood strong to head a Sam Young drive from 25 yards behind for a corner that was scooped up by McCrea FS Player of the Month for October Myles Roberts.
Milne was in the correct position to do likewise 60 seconds later when a looping left-wing cross looked to be heading into a dangerous area.
Ngwenya was cautioned for tripping Mega in full flight on 57 minutes just to the side of the home penalty box and the Jags took full advantage by opening the scoring.
Turner’s clipped free kick flew across goal where Dan O’Reilly knocked it back in the opposite direction and ROBINSON darted in to apply the final touch two yards out and right in front of the Thistle fans who had arrived in fancy dress.
There was a late Halloween scare four minutes later as a cross from the left reached Chris Hamilton with plenty of the goal to aim at however the Pars man sent his shot over.
Graham led visiting attacks twice in quick succession to no reward as the home rear-guard regrouped and shut the Jags skipper out.
Milne was the next to lead a raid on the home goal as he charged down the left on 78 minutes with the move eventually ending with Robinson just failing to get on the end of a Graham knockdown.
Oluwayemi raced out of his goal with nine minutes left and stuck out his hands and pushed the ball away with his hands. After the shot-stopper was booked Turner clipped in another fine dead ball but there were no takers this time.
The visiting defence, bolstered by substitute Aaron Muirhead, remained calm as Dunfermline looked to build up a head of steam with a shout from Roberts that he was coming to punch away heard across Fife.
Deep into injury time Ablade looked to go on a piercing run however a strong tackle ended his progress with the final whistle going after six additional minutes.

Scott Robinson's goal is enough to give Thistle their second successive 1-0 away win. It's three wins on the bounce for Thistle who have to endure 6 minutes of injury time before being able to celebrate a hard fought win.
Ablade looks to pick up a knock. Play has stopped but it doesn't looks as if the physio is needed,.
A Ritchie-Holser shot is half blocked which takes all the pace off it allowing Roberts to make an easy catch.
Dunfermline think they have won a throw but the decision goes Thistle's way.
Into added time. We had none at the end of the first half. I wouldn't expect the same this half!
Crawford wins Thistle a free kick inside the Dunfermline half.
A Cooper shot trundles wide of Roberts' right hand post.
Benedictus flicks Turner's free kick away for a throw on the far side.
Oluwayemi handles outside the box and Thistle have a free kick in a not dissimilar position to the one that led to the goal.
Into the final 10 minutes. It could be a long last 10, plus added time.
The home fans are frustrated as a decision goes against them as they try and attack the Thistle goal but it is a fairly obvious foul on Crawford.
Thistle are inviting pressure but on this occasion there is no danger to the Jags goal as Ngwenya sends a tame header well over the bar.
It's the home side that are doing all the pressing at the moment. Thistle struggling to retain possession when they do get the ball.
Milne gets enough of his head to the ball to get the free kick clear before Robinson is fouled.
Dunfermline free kick in a threatening position wide on the right.
Roberts collects the corner.
Dunfermline should be level. It's a mistake from Chalmers that allows Mebude to advance. He crosses and it looks as if Hamilton has an easy finish but he lifts the ball high over the bar.
Thistle are in front. Turner's free kick is headed goalwards by Ashcroft and Robinson is there to bundle the ball home from close range.
Ngwenya's crude challenge on Megwa earns him a yellow card and Thistle a free kick on the right near the edge of the box.
Dunfermline don't go direct into the box with the free kick and instead knock wide to the left. A cross comes in from that flank that Thistle are happy to see fly across goal without a Dunfermline touch.
Ashcroft fouls Mebude and Dunfermline have a free kick deep inside the Thistle half.
Roberts collects as Dunfermline are unable to create an opening from Ritchie-Hosler's corner.
The corner goes low towards the front post Hamilton stoops to head the ball but it goes wide of goal. The home side have started the second half the better of the two sides.
Looks as if Dunfermline are going to be forced to make another change. Chris Kane, injured a minute or so ago, doesn't look as if he can continue.
Crowd: 5162 (704 Thistle fans)
Back underway. No half-time changes from Thistle.
Goalless at the break with Logan Chalmers having the best chance for Thistle in a largely forgettable opening 45 minutes.
Milne does well to head clear and is fouled by Kane in the process.
Big chance for Thistle. Graham picks up the ball, finds Chalmers to his right. Chalmers advances and when a defender slips he shoots for goal with Oluwayemi saving at his left hand post.
Wotherspoon tries a shot from outside the Thistle box but it clears the bar by some distance.
Chalmers takes the free kick but there is no threat to the Dunfermline goal and Oluwayemi is able to gather the ball.
Thistle win a free kick wide on he right hand side in line with the corner of the Dunfermline box.
Thistle break through Robinson. He finds Megwa to his right who fizzes over a cross that is cleared.
Ashcroft bravely puts his head in to clear and is caught in the head. No need for treatment this time for as player who has been in the wars this season.
The game is a bit livelier now. Thistle work a short corner and Graham glances a header just wide.
Robinson is tackled just as he enters the Dunfermline box winning Thistle their first corner of the game.
Wotherspoon's corner goes deep. It's knocked back towards goal and the ball drops to Benedictus who takes a wild swipe and sees his shot clear the Thistle crossbar.
We haven't fallen asleep. There really isn't much happening of any note.
It's been a fairly uneventful start to the game. The Thistle travelling support, many in fancy dress, seem to be enjoying themselves though.
Thistle kick-off and are shooting towards the home end in the first half.
An injury to Aidan Fitzpatrick has denied Kris Doolan the opportunity of fielding the same side that defeated Queen's Park 7 days ago.
Robbie Crawford, who performed well from the subs bench at Hampden, comes into the starting eleven, a change that will see Kyle Turner start the afternoon wide on the left.
On the bench there is a welcome return for Terry Ablade who has been side lined with injury since the away fixture against Hamilton at the end of September.
