💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Motherwell have started the season well having finished 8th in the league last season, picking up two wins so far this season and sitting in 6th place, two spots above the jags.
Motherwell have lost several players this season with Amy Anderson making the switch to Glasgow City while loan signings Sophia Martin, Kayla Jardine and Laura Berry all left the club following their time in ML1.
The Steelmen have brought replacements into the club with Mason Clark joining on loan following a successful spell with rivals Hamilton Accies, Jenna Penman made the move from Hearts while Georgie Robb, Eve Donald and Rachel Todd made the move from Dundee United.
Alongside this, Lucy Ronald recently returned from a lengthy ACL injury which also provides a boost to the club.
We picked up Carla Boyce in January last season from Motherwell and she’s proved to be a key player in the squad since. Fixtures against the Well have proved to be.
Thistle’s return to Firhill side started poorly. 452 fans were roaring behind the Jags however miscommunication at the back saw a deflected pass reach Hannah Stewart who tucked it behind Jeni Currie to give the visitors the lead.
Thistle tried their best to get back into the match with Tiree Burchill having a couple efforts on goal saved by Megan Sidey as Aberdeen seen the half out 1-0. The second half kicked off in the same light and a counter attack from Aberdeen saw a fantastic curling effort from Francesca
Ogilvie double the Dons’ advantage. Another controversial penalty decision saw Thistle further frustrated as they just could not gel at this stage.
However, the determination from our girls to get back into the match was there as Emma Lawton scored her 2nd goal of the season to pull one back for the Jags before Carla Boyce got her head on the end of a Shona Cowan cross to draw the game at 2-2.
Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army helped our girls massively last season. A trip along the M74 awaits the girls and with free entry, we would love to see as many Jags supporters as a big match awaits against Motherwell.
Claire Adams returns following her suspension and is in contention for a return to the side. Claire Docherty also returns after missing out last week against Aberdeen.
There was further good news with the news that Cheryl McCulloch can return to full contact training as she steps up her return from her ACL injury.
In terms of injuries, Courtney Stewart and Kodie Hay both remain out.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with an away game against Motherwell.
