Adapt Commercial Property PTWFC August Player of the Month

August represented the start of another competitive season for Partick Thistle Women’s FC as the Jags got their campaign underway with an extremely tough slate of four fixtures.

Brian Graham’s side finish the month having accrued three points from those four games, however, they’ll feel they weren’t a long way off getting a result of some kind in difficult home games against Hibernian and Glasgow City.

Now, as the team build up towards a game against Aberdeen at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill on Sunday, it’s time for you to pick your Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month for August from the following candidates:

Demi Falconer

Consistently one of the most influential players in the PTWFC line-up, the changing of the season hasn’t changed the impact of Demi Falconer. Leading by example as captain, Falconer played every minute during August offering her usual reliability in central defence. It was probably in the closing stages at Spartans, with Thistle leading 2-1, where Demi’s qualities were needed most. As the wind swirled and the hosts sent the ball into the Jags’ box repeatedly the skipper stood up alongside her teammates and made sure all three points were secured.

Caley Gibb

A summer recruit from Spartans, Caley’s shining moment of the month came against her former club as she latched onto the ball in Edinburgh side’s box and weaved past a couple of defenders before slotting home at the near post to give Thistle the lead at Ainslie Park. She had made her debut in the game against Hibs at Lochburn Park earlier in the month and almost marked that occasion with a goal as well with her shot crashing off the bar deep in injury time with Thistle pushing for an equaliser.

Georgia Gray

Another new face for the 2024/25 season, Georgia Gray was experiencing her first taste of senior football when she was given the nod to start of the opening day against Hibs. The midfielder has appeared in all four games during August, starting three of them and has grown into her role in the engine room with each passing game. Still only 18 years old, the early signs are very promising for Georgia in Jags colours.

Emma Lawton

Our Players’ Player and Player of the Year Emma Lawton has picked up where she left of last season. The right-back produced a terrific finish after gliding past a defender to get Thistle back into the game against Hibs on the opening weekend and it was also her throw-in that got Caley Gibb into the Spartans box for the opening goal in the capital. Add that to her usual defensive workload and it adds up to a productive first month for the Jags’ number three.
