Results got progressively better for PTWFC during a three-game October slate which saw them pick up four points and move back into the league’s top six.
The Jags were mercilessly punished for a number of missed opportunities in a 3-0 defeat to Hearts at the start of the month before a frustrating draw against Montrose on the road as Thistle struggled to find their stride at Links Park.
Brian Graham’s side were able to finish October on a high though as they ran out 2-0 winners against Queen’s Park at Petershill Park thanks to a very professional display.
Now, it’s time to make your pick for the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month for October from these nominees:
Jeni Currie
Thistle’s number one has settled in very well in her first season as a Jag and made numerous contributions to the team’s efforts this month. Firstly against Hearts, she pulled off a trio of excellent saves to frustrate the Jambos and then against Montrose, while Thistle were trailing, she made a terrific close range stop to deny the hosts and keep her side in touching distance en route to a point in Angus. She closed out the month with her third competitive clean sheet of the season, against Queen’s Park.
Demi Falconer
Nary a month goes by without the Thistle skipper having a significant say on her team’s fortunes so it’s not a shock to see her among the field of nominees here. Contributing to a clean sheet at home to Queen’s Park, Demi showed her usual organisational proficiency as she led from the backline but in one of the other games she also popped up with a key moment at the top end of the pitch. With Thistle a goal down in the second half against Montrose, Falconer kept a half-cleared corner alive by hoisting the ball back towards the edge of the six-yard box where it fell kindly for Carla Boyce to smash home as the travelling Jags got themselves a point.
Cara Henderson
Playing left, right and centre in midfield during the month of October, Cara Henderson has shown an impressive creative touch over the last few games and can count herself very unlucky not to have more goals and assists to show for her efforts. Cara set up 12 chances across the three games this month including six in one match against Queen’s Park and in that same game she had a few self-crafted opportunities to score herself with the best one being saved well by Lucy Inman in the first half.
Lucy Sinclair
Thistle’s last game of the month was a hugely significant one on a personal level for Lucy Sinclair as she brought up a couple of career milestones against Queen’s Park. By starting the game, she not only reached 50 appearances for Partick Thistle but also reached 150 total career appearances at the age of 21. To cap off a special afternoon for the Jags’ number 30, she also earned herself the Player of the Match award in a 2-0 win.
