With three out of four games against full-time opposition, November looked like a tough month on paper and it started that way with disappointing defeats to Glasgow City and Hibernian, however, the team found a way to bounce back and pick up a couple of valuable points.
Falling behind in the first half against Motherwell and in a rematch against Hibs at Meadowbank, Brian Graham’s side were able to find the crucial equalising goal to secure a draw on both occasions.
The resilience shown by the team gives them something to build on heading into what is set to be a pivotal run of games during December.
For now though it’s time to make your pick for the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month for November from the following nominees:
Jeni Currie
Thistle’s ‘keeper summed up the grit shown by the team during the month of December. In the Jags’ massive home fixture against Motherwell Jeni picked up an injury late in the game that would see her miss the following week’s trip to Edinburgh, however, if she’d gone off it would have forced Demi Falconer to put on the gloves and as such Currie battled through and even made a terrific diving save to her right-hand side in injury time which ensured a point for Thistle.
Cheryl McCulloch
November was a crucial month for Cheryl McCulloch as she continues her return to playing after a year and a half out injured. The centre-half started three of four games and managed to get her first goal back in the team during the cup defeat to Hibs at Petershill Park. More impressive than that though was her spirited defensive display at Meadowbank against the same opponents with her last-second goal line clearance summing up her afternoon as Thistle got a share of the points.
Rosie Slater
Another member of the backline which fought hard to earn a result in the capital, Rosie Slater featured at full-back and centre-half over the course of November. Her standout moment came in the game against Motherwell when the ball fell to Sophie Black 12 yards from goal and Slater rushed out to make a timely block before winning a free kick to relieve the pressure on the Jags’ goal.
Lucy Sinclair
Starting the side’s three league games last month, Sinclair continued to play a key role in the middle of the park for the Jags. She was the player who won the ball back a matter of seconds into the second half at Meadowbank allowing Carla Boyce to tee up Cara Henderson for Thistle’s equalising goal and would go on to contribute heavily to the defensive effort that saw the side take a point back to Glasgow.
