As work on the Firhill pitch continues in earnest, the club would like to offer its thanks to the wearethistle.co.uk forum for its fundraising efforts which have raised £3,600 which will go towards paying for overall pitch renovation.
The fundraising efforts, organised by Phil Bowen, called for Thistle fans to “pay as you enjoy” by pledging a minimum of £1 per point that Alan Archibald’s team managed to accrue from February 26th onwards – a total of 15.
The figure of £3,600 is not just a number either, as Phil Bowen explains:
The total transferred is now £3,600. This is an important number. It is 3.6% of the anticipated cost of replacing the drainage and re-laying the pitch. By a happy coincidence, the ten yard radius circle marked in the middle of the pitch represents 3.6% of the total area of the playing surface. Therefore, on behalf of forum members, I claim the centre circle as ours. I would be grateful if the club could look after it for us!
