Partick Thistle can today confirm the first signing of the summer window as central defender, Thomas O’Ware, joins the club on a two year deal.
The Scottish defender joins the Jags having left former club, Greenock Morton, at the end of the last campaign.
Thomas spent time with Kilmarnock and Rangers as a youth player before joining Morton in 2011.
O’Ware, 25, certainly has a solid defensive CV but he’s also good for a goal too, having finished the 2016/17 season as Europe’s top scoring defender with 11 goals.
Furthermore, each of the last two seasons have seen Thomas selected in the Ladbrokes Championship PFA Scotland Team of the Season.
Speaking shortly after signing at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill, Thomas said: “First and foremost I’m really pleased to join Thistle and I’m glad that it was a fairly straightforward process as well. After my agent let me know the club was interested the gaffer phoned me and let me know what the plan was. It was a pretty simple decision from there.
“From now on it is just about focussing on getting back to the Ladbrokes Premiership, that’s the only target we can set. With the manager and the team we’re building it is definitely achievable.”
