It's four on the road for Thistle for the second league game in a row.
It's an emphatic win in the end but there were more than a few anxious moments when the score stood at just 1-0, Brian Graham opening the scoring after just 73 seconds.
Two magnificent goals from Steven Lawless though eased Thistle to full points with Tomi Adeloye scoring the fourth with his first touch seconds after having come off the bench.
Minimum of 3 minutes additional time to be played.
Sneddon blocks a Chalmers shot at his front post. Thistle desperate to get the clean sheet.
Sneddon gets his fingertips to a Murphy shot and that is enough to take the ball over the bar.
Adeloye scores with his first touch seconds after coming on. Lawless with the assist this time and clean through Adeloye just rolls the ball past a motionless Albinson.
Fitzpatrick cuts along the goal line and looks for a penalty when a challenge comes in. He doesn't even get a corner as consolation.
McKenzie's header is easily saved by Sneddon.
Some great skill from Chalmers gets him into a good position inside the Thistle box, but his cross is poor and Sneddon collects.
He's only gone and done it again. Not quite as far out and not quite as powerfully struck. This one is a low effort from just outside the box that leaves Albinson with no chance.
Thistle break quickly after an excellent challenge from Bannigan. Graham fires over a cross from the right, but there is nobody on the end of it.
Fitzpatrick's low cross is gathered at his front post by Albinson.
Quick feet from Chalmers creates room for a shot but it is straight at Sneddon who gratefully holds onto the ball. This game is far from won.
Perfectly timed challenge from McAllister on an advancing Ngwenya when any mistake would have seen him collect a second yellow card.
You will not see many better goal than that. Lawless advances and sends an absolutely magnificent shot into the net.
Poor free kick from Fitzpatrick after he had been fouled by McAllister who picked up an obvious yellow card.
Chalmers gets the ball back after his corner is cleared. This time his cross is right on tip of Sneddon who clings on to the ball.
McInroy's shot from outside the box goes narrowly wide.
It's a clever pass from McInroy to Ngwenya but his low ball is behind Lawless. More positive from Thistle all the same.
Ayr have started the second half much as they finished the first. On this occasion though Chalmers' shot is never likely to trouble Sneddon.
We're back underway. No further changes from Thistle.
Thistle lead at the break thanks to Brian Graham's early goal but it has been far from comfortable at times with sustained periods of Ayr pressure.
It took an great Jamie Sneddon save to deny Rose when clear through on goal in what was the best chance for the home side who have threatened through Murphy.
Thistle though have been a threat themselves and Graham was denied a second goal with half-time just minutes away by an excellent save from Albinson in the home goal.
There was a blow just before half-time when Jack McMillan had to come off injured being replaced by Zander MacKenzie.
Reading sends over a low cross that squirms away from Sneddon before he collects at the second attempt.
Minimum of 3 minutes additional time to be played.
Muirhead heads clear before Bannigan gets the ball further up field.
Lawless clips Murphy and Ayr will have a chance to get the ball into the Thistle box.
Lawless' low near post corner is cleared and the pressure moves towards the Thistle goal again.
It's a great save from Albinson to deny Graham and Thistle a second goal.
The Thistle goal is under pressure and a Reading header lands on top of the Thistle net. The half-time whistle would not be unwelcome right now.
Ayr look for a penalty as Chalmers goes to ground inside the Thistle box.
It's a blow for Thistle as an obviously injured McMillan is replaced by Scotland under 19 cap Zander MacKenzie.
Thistle could do with a spell of possession at the moment. It's Ayr that are seeing the majority of the ball.
Ngwenya benefits from the break of the ball and sets up Fitzpatrick whose shot is blocked. The ball breaks to Graham but he lifts bis shot over the crossbar.
A McKenzie header from a Murphy cross drops well wide of the Thistle goal.
Murphy takes the free kick and gets the ball beyond the Thistle wall but it is a comfortable save for Sneddon whose had a busy few minutes.
Muirhead is penalised for handball and Ayr have a free kick outside the Thistle box.
Another good corner from Murphy. It's cleared but only back to Murphy and it takes a confident catch under pressure from Sneddon to remove the threat.
Rose is clean through on goal and it takes a great stop from Sneddon to keep the ball out.
Safe hands from Sneddon as a shot comes in from outside the Thistle box.
Ngwenya is across quickly to clear a dangerous ball into the box.
It's a good corner from Murphy, whipped in with pace that Thistle do well to defend.
Fitzpatrick and Lawless try and work a short corner routine that doesn't come off.
Sneddon has to scramble a Syla shot round the post for the game's first corner. Ayr looking a threat at the moment.
Sneddon is back on his feet and we are ready to go again.
Ayr are the better side at the moment and Sneddon does well to keep hold of a fizzed in low cross. He picks up a knock in the process and will need a spot of treatment,
A booking has been coming. The referee probably gave two previous Ayr fouls the benefit of the doubt due to the greasy surface but he couldn't fail to bring out a yellow card for this foul on Fitzpatrick.
Chance for Thistle. It starts with a Fitzpatrick run deep into the Ayr half. He finds McInroy who moves the ball on to Lawless. Lawless passes inside to Stanway who sends a shot from outside the box over the Ayr crossbar.
First chance for the home side and McKenzie isn't far away with an effort from the right hand side of the Thistle box that goes narrowly wide of the opposite post.
It's a teasing cross from Lawless that threatens a second Thistle goal. Graham though can't either direct the ball on target or towards McInroy.
There is barely a minute on the clock and Thistle take the lead. McInroy gets past a defender before crossing for Graham to bundle home from that range all strikers love, about a yard out. Dream start for Thistle.
Thistle get the game underway. Shooting towards the 'home' end in the first half.
It's back to the search for league points with our first Friday evening fixture of the season taking us down the coast to face Ayr United.
After wins against Queen's Park and Morton, Thistle go into this match looking to record their third league win in a row.
They will be without the services of the suspended Harry Milne in their search to do that with Kieran Ngwenya coming in to make his first start as a Partick Thistle player.
The team is otherwise as expected, Lewis Neilson, Kerr McInroy, Brian Graham and Aidan Fitzpatrick all return to the starting eleven after sitting out the SPFL Trust Trophy tie with Queen of the South last weekend.
Wasiri Williams, Scott Robinson and Wes McDonald are the three players that drop to the bench.
