💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Celtic have had a less than ideal domestic campaign by their standards as they sit 5th position with 35 points after 15 matches played. This sees them 7 points behind current leaders Glasgow City albeit with two games in hand.
Celtic recently completed a European campaign as well finishing without a point in their champions league group however put in several excellent displays against Chelsea, Twente and Real Madrid.
Celtic have a lot of star quality within their squad with summer signing Saoirse Noonan gaining plaudits since joining from Durham while former Jag Emma Lawton has put in numerous superb performances since stepping up to full time football earlier in the season.
Thistle have proven themselves against Celtic in recent seasons and our girls are raring to go against Elena Sidiku’s side as we face a trip to Lanarkshire.
Thistle haven’t played a match in nearly a month with our last fixture coming against Montrose in a 3-3 draw at Petershill Park. We were due to play against Aberdeen the following Sunday after this but strong winds and bad weather called off the fixture.
That match has since been rescheduled to a midweek 7:45pm kick off on Wednesday 5th of February.
Some very good training sessions have continued over the festive break as the girls look to break their winless run and a tough test against Celtic awaits them come Sunday.
Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army help our girls massively. A Glasgow Derby is next for the girls and we would love to see as many Jags supporters as possible come Sunday afternoon.
The festive break has given the squad a much needed rest as a few injuries were suffered in our final few matches before the stop.
Thistle have added to their ranks since the January window opened with youngster Mae English joining following a stint in the Celtic academy while Queen’s Park trio Olivia King, Emma Craig and Ellie Kane linked up with the Jags. Ellie Kane will likely miss out as she recovers from an injury that has kept her our in recent weeks however the others are in line to make their debuts.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with an important game against Celtic.
