💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Hearts have had a good season, picking up 51 points so far in the league. Sitting in 4th position, Eva Olid’s side will be looking to secure all three points and continue their undefeated streak against the Jags this season. Having suffered a recent loss against Rangers, they’ll look for a quick turnaround as they return home for this match against Brian Graham’s side.
The last meeting between the squads ended in a 3-0 defeat at Petershill Park in a tightly contested game between the sides. A game which didn’t reflect the scoreline, we’ve had many tough encounters with the Edinburgh outfit and will be looking to pick up 3 points on the road this season.
Thistle knew it would be a tough match against Hibs at Petershill Park on Wednesday however went in with confidence and with a clear game plan. In a match where Hibs had a point to prove having failed to win at a Peasy all season, we understood exactly what game Grant Scott would bring.
With Brian Graham back available for Sunday’s tie having served a 3 game suspension, the match got off to a quick fire start as both sides went attacking. Hibs would strike first however as Naomi Powell would strike a free kick from distance that struck the bar and off Megan Cunningham for a Hibs lead. That lead would last all of 22 seconds as Carla Boyce showed great attacking awareness and pounced to equalise for the Jags.
The second half would prove to be even better for Thistle as Imogen Longcake continued her impressive streak of scoring off the bench to make it 2-1 while Carla Boyce punished her former club once more for a 3-1 lead for Brian Graham’s team. Jorian Baucom struck late to make it a nervy finish but all 3 points came to Thistle and a first top 6 win.
Strong followings from the Red and Yellow Army so far this season have really helped our girls. Your support has played a massive part helping the Jags and we hope to see as many of you as possible through in the capital this Sunday afternoon.
Aimee Anderson and Shona Cowan are unavailable due to the terms of their loan agreements from Hearts while a few knocks from Wednesday are to be assessed before this fixture.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture
