💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Hibs come into this match in great high spirits with another big win against Hearts in the capital cup last weekend at Tynecastle giving Grant Scott’s outfit the momentum for this fixture.
That result left Hibs in 4th place, one point behind their bitter rivals in 3rd and equal on points with last season’s champions in 5th. This also puts Hibs 14 points ahead of Thistle in 7th as we look to face a strong side at a difficult ground.
Hibs showed their quality a fortnight ago with key stars being Michaela McAlonie, Lauren Doran-Barr and Kirsten Reilly that afternoon while Kathleen McGovern fired home a hat trick and will look to continue her scoring feats this Sunday.
Thistle welcomed a strong Motherwell side to Peasy last weekend and a Well side that was much different than the one we beat 4-0 at Fir Park in September. This was considered a real 6 pointer for both sides as they equally looked to claim their stake for top 6.
Motherwell were the better side from the early stages with Rangers loanees Sophie Black and Laura Berry providing real threats for the visitors. The teenagers created numerous chances that goalkeeper Jeni Currie had to pull out big stops to keep out.
After offside goals were ruled out at both ends of the pitch, the Lanarkshire outfit eventually took the lead with Demi Falconer being on the end of a fine free kick into the area lifting the ball of her keeper to score an own goal. The half would end 1-0 and fortunate to be only one in the half.
Thistle would start the second half much better as good linkup play between former Motherwell players Carla Boyce and Tiree Burchill saw the young forward score our equaliser taking her tally to 5 this season at the expense of her former side. Chances came at both ends and Jedi Currie played through the pain to stop a real opportunity late on but ultimately the score would end 1-1 sharing the points at Peasy and allowing Spartans to cut the gap to 2 points between 7th and 8th.
Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army help our girls massively. We brought strong numbers through to Edinburgh for this fixture several times last season and we hope to see as many of you there this weekend for this edition.
Rachel Donaldson returned to action last week as she came on for the final 20 minutes. She’s in line for more minutes this weekend. Jenna Ferguson is ruled out for this fixture as she continues to recover following her late injury against Glasgow City at the start of the month while Jeni Currie played through the pain for last weekend’s final stages, and despite recovering well, could face a late fitness test come Sunday. Thistle have added goalkeeper Chloe Logan on emergency loan from Celtic for this fixture.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with a game away against Hibs.
