And that's it - Thistle win 1-0. The early goal enough to win it for the home side but in truth it was a story of a marvelous defensive display from Thistle. Celtic probed but and had chances, particularly in the second half, but the Jags never really looked like losing it.

A fine performance from the team in red and yellow with three points very well earned. It finished 1-0 to Thistle here at Firhill.

Celtic free kick from 30 yards but Higgins shot is poor and wide.

Celtic are given far too much space in the Thistle box and the eventual save is well saved by Stuckmann as it goes out for a corner. The Thistle keeper punches the corner clear.

Docherty's shot is deflected wide for a corner. Penrice takes it short and Thistle take it to the corner, eventually winning a free kick for a foul on McDaid.

David Wilson strikes a shot from just outside the box but it goes high over the bar. Still 1-0 here at Firhill.

Thistle playing ever so well here and confidently protecting their 1-0 lead. Still 10 minutes to go but plenty to suggest the Jags are on for all three point (let's hope the curse of the text commentator doesn't strike now!).

And Celtic make a sub bringing Daniel Higgins on for first half substitute Broque Watson.

So close for the Jags as Nisbet smashes the ball off the crossbar - keeper beaten. Thistle looking good here but still can't extend the lead.

Nisbet pounces on a slack pass in the Celtic defence and looks certain to score. Just as he pulls the trigger though his shot is blocked by the covering defender.

More good play from Thistle as yet anothe good cross from Penrice fins Nisbet yards from goal. The balll is slightly behind the Jags striker though and he can't get his shot on target.

A lovely cutting ball from Welsh finds Penrice wide whose ball ends up with Lamont but his shot is blocked. Celtic break and look likely to cause problems for Thistle until McMullin steps up and puts in a superb tackle to take control again.

Stuckmann tips a Thomson shot wide for a corner. Hendry puts the resulting set piece into a great area. Josh Kerr meets the cross with a good header but somehow McInally manages to stop the ball on the line - fantastic defending.

Excellent play from Penrice sees him leave to Celtic players for dust. Such a shame that his final ball wasn't better as it goes behind for a goal kick.

Sean Welsh shows good experience to win the corner for Thistle. The resulting set piece is poor though and Celtic clear.

Chance for Thistle as McDaid hits a low hard shot from outside the box but Fasan gets down to get a solid palm on it and David Wilson can't react quick enough to score the rebound.

A frenetic start but not many clear chances so far in this second half. Celtic are certainly looking more fired up.

First chance of the half falls to Celtic through Joseph Thomson as a shot from distance has Stuckmann worried, but only briefly as the giant German sees the ball wide.

An excellent start for Thistle led to a very strong half hour for the home side. The team in red and yellow controlled the play and dictated the tempo and there were plenty of positives for Scott MacKenzie's side. As the half wore on though it became scrappy and chances were at a premium. Good stuff from Thistle, who were good value for their 1-0 lead - hopefully more to come in the second half.

And thong reignite as AItchison plays a wicked low cross into the Jags box but Syme clears on the stretch.

No chancs for either side in the last 10 minutes as the game goes through a scrappy phase. Still 1-0 to the home side though.

Another half chance for Thistle as Gary Fraser puts a pinpoint ball on to Nisbet's head but, with his back to goal, the striker's flicked header is saved by the Celtic custodian.

Great delivery from Penrice and McDaid's glancing header ends up just wide of Celtic's far post.

Hendry hits a free kick for Celtic which he driftsinto the back post area right to Aitchison who, unmarked, couldn't connect with the header.

Stuckmann again elects to punch anf the Jags defence get it clear.

Celtic putting a bit of pressure on Thistle here as the ball goes down the left and is deflected out for a corner.

Gary Fraser is turning it on at FIrhill with two fabulous 50 yard passes out to McInally on the right, the right back unfortunate not to get more from them.

And it's pinball in the Celtic box. A great cross from Fraser is inches away from McDaid's head, Penrice puts the ball back in the box but McDaid's subsequent shot is blocked and eventually cleared by the hoops' defence. Good play by Thistle.

Excellent possession football from Thistle as they control the tempo in the middle of the park, keeping possession well.

Celtic get their first shot but Thomson's rangey effort ends up going well wide.

Stuckmann comands his area and gets a big punch on the corner to clear any potential danger.

McDaid continues his good run of form in the development squad with an excellently worked goal. It was all about the build up and started with Lamont winning the ball well and beating his man before playing an excellently weighted pass to Kevin Nisbet who unselfishly squared the ball for McDaid to finish past the Celtic keeper. 1-0 to the Young Jags.

Scott MacKenzie makes six changes to the side which lost to Ross County on Tuesday as Alan Archibald uses todays game to get some first team players up to speed with some more minutes in the legs.

There is a first sighting of Thorsten Stuckmann while Gary Fraser also makes his first start of the 2016/17 campaign.
