After finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time Thistle were able to raly together and bring the game back to 2-2 through Nisbet and McLaughlin. Thistle continued their improvement and looked the more likely to score a winner but some slack defending meant Dallas was able to put Rangers back in front.
That was how the game would finish with an excellent turnaround of performance in the second half but it would bear no rewards as they suffer a second defeat on the bounce.
Stokes is played through but the 'keeper is able to block his advances but the ball falls to Higgins who has a shooting opportunity. His shot is deflected behind.
The 'keeper is cautioned for timewasting.
A long ball from Rangers isn't dealt with by the Jags backline and Dallas latches onto it before touching it past the outrushing Cullen.
Connor Higgins is tackled in the box and Lamont tries to latch on to it but his touch is too heavy, fortunately for him it falls to Neil McLaughlin who strokes home with his right foot finding the bottom corner.
McInally gets behind his marker and passes to Higgins who lays it off to James Stokes. Stokes shoots but it's straight at McCrorie.
A free-kick routine is used as Lamont finds McLaughlin on the edge of the box but the attacker miskicks his attempt and it goes off target.
Abaradan's shot is deflected behind for a corner.
Lamont slots McLaughlin through and he has a chance to shoot. He does so and tries to pick out the far corner but McCrorie saves and it's turned behind on the rebound by a defender.
A deep Ian Stokes cross from the right finds Nisbet perfectly and the striker has the simple task of heading home from close range at the back stick.
Atakayi skips past two defenders before unleasing a powerful shot on goal but he blasts a couple of yards over.
Mark Lamont shoots from 25 yards but it's an easy save for the 'keeper.
Abaradan gets the second half underway.
A poor first half from Thistle as they go into the break 2-0 down. Goals from Atakayi and Abaradan give Rangers the lead as the young Jags fail to get on the scoresheet despite a couple of good chances.
Rangers were forced into an early substitution as Kyle Bradley was forced off and replaced by Jason Krones.
Neither team really dominated the match but Thistle will really have to step up if they want to get back in the game.
The Rangers man is booked for his fourth foul of the match.
Atakayi is played through with an over-the-top ball. He cuts onto his right and shoots but Cullen turns the shot behind.
Burt gets past his man and shoots low at the near post but Cullen stands strong and makes the save.
Atakayi gets in behind the Jags' backline and crosses but Burt can't get to it and in the end it's a Rangers corner.
After some pressure by Thistle, McLaughlin has the ball inside the Rangers box. He picks out Nisbet with a lifted pass. Nisbet controls and shoots but McCrorie makes a good save and Wilson commits a foul in the aftermath.
A ball is played through to Atakayi from the Rangers midfield and he touches it past Cullen. It is going in but Abaradan touches it over the line to claim the goal.
Nisbet is fed the ball and he plays it wide to McLaughlin. McLaughlin then tries to pick out James Stokes at the back post but McCrorie claims.
Jordan Gibson dispossesses Callum Wilson before shooting from 25 yards. His shot sails safely over Cullen's goal.
Nisbet is booked for a late challenge on Aidan Wilson. He seemed to get some of the ball but the referee didn't see it that way.
After some excellent play by Gibson, skipping past a number of challenges, the midfielder cuts the ball back to the unmarked Atakayi who slots into the far corner from close range.
Kevin Nisbet is played the ball in the air and he uses a smart flick to lift it over his marker's head and get in behind. He opts to shoot on the bounce from outside the box and unfortunately for him, it goes well wide.
Abaradan is played the ball inside the Thistle box and shoots towards the near post but Cullen is able to save and then collect.
After a string of corners, the ball is cleared upfield by Rangers.
Kevin Nisbet stole the ball from a Rangers man and ran into the box. He looked to have made space for a shot but a covering Gers man put the ball out for a corner.
Kevin Nisbet kicks things off for Thistle.
After losing 3-1 to Falkirk last Tuesday, Partick Thistle's Development team look to return to winning ways against Rangers at the Excelsior Stadium.
Conor Cullen starts in goals behind a backline of Ian Stokes, Harry Granger, John Kelly and Ross Fleming. Callum Wilson, Andrew McCarthy, Mark Lamont, James Stokes and Neil McLaughlin form a five-man midfield with Kevin Nisbet up front.
